Please don't solely rely on CarFax. Case in point, was recently looking for my wife a gently used Caddy SRX. Found a 2013 with a clean car fax. Drove 45 minutes to look at it. Within 10 seconds of inspecting it, I spotted body filler/repair work preformed on the driver's side rear quarter panel. Told dealer, no thanks don't even want to test drive it. He offered to fix it to make it look better...no thanks, I'll find one that hasn't been wrecked...

From my experience, Carfax only serves to give you a title history. I ran one on a car once and everything came up roses. Two months later the transmission went. Better off getting it checked by a reputable mechanic IMO.
