Default C7 clear door sill protectors

These look like a good idea, I seen these in the forum store..I'm so **** about people dragging their feet (passengers). Just wondering if there was any feedback from people that have um, as far as the fit and the look..Thanks

If you're talking about the thick plastic protectors, they aren't a good idea. Those "protectors" actually rub the paint every time you open or close the door and ultimately do more harm than good. a strip of Xpel over the sills wouldn't hurt anything, but you can actually buy brand new replacement OEM standard "Corvette" sill plates for less than 50.00 a pair brand new on ebay. I'd recommend you just buy yourself a backup pair, and if one of yours gets scuffed just replace it. They also are the same left and right.

Concur with the above comment. Total wast of money. Bought them and got rid of them in less than a month. Would not stay in place any time the door opened plus water always got underneath when I would wash the car.

I have them and use them when I have my car serviced. Never had a problem using them that way and would not leave them on permanently. In my opinion I would rather chance any damage from them vs. what could happen when the car is in for service.

That's what I did. You can get the XPEL door sill guards on-line from a number of sources.

Edit: I was referring to post #4 but someone got a post in before I could send this one. Just trying to follow forum rules.

^^^ I tried both on my 2014 Stingray. The protectors were terrible and caused damage to the sills and the carpet. The Xpel was perfect, couldn't tell it was even there, and kept the sill plates looking great!

Those plastic door sill covers look terrible on the car. My guess is that you'll put them off and then take them right back off.

The main problems I had with them were the velcro pulling the carpet fibers up when I removed them for cleaning underneath them and if, by chance, something gets between them and the sill plates, the sill plates will get scratched.

I ordered these last week and they are supposed to get deliverd Wednesday. I also don't use the car as a daily driver. I do understand that if dirt or sand gets between the sill and protector it could scratch if not removed. I also see that the Velcro could tug/damage the carpet when removing for cleaning. I'm curious if you removed the Velcro or covered it with tape will the protector would stay in place?

Not only that, but in my experience, the majority of scuffs are not on the painted sills proper, but the plastic trim inside.

I removed the velcro and while the sill protector will stay in place, doing so allows for more movement.

I put the plastic covers on shortly after getting my C7
Long story short, I took them off and put Xpel on :

I removed the velcro also. They seem to stay in place fine for me.

I also tried both. The sill protectors were TERRIBLE. Ruined my carpet, scratched the plastic trim around the sills. BAD, BAD BAD!!

I bought it in 6" width from Xpel and you can specify the length you want.

Wrapped it from the plastic on top of the sill around two corners.

Used their squeegee and followed their directions.

Looks great.

I'm thinking if you remove the velcro and put clear double sided tape on both ends of the plastic protectors it might eliminate the issues.
