DSC Sport Magnetic Shock controller observations

Just got back from another track day, this time with DSC. This controller is everything. You can feel your back brakes dragging you back compared to stock because it stiffens the front and softens the rear.
On my MPSS I was outbraking EVERYTHING out there, including C6 Z06 on R-compounds, and I was in the advanced drive group. Nothing was catching me and because the rear brakes were doing a lot more work, I was able to run back to back hot laps on stock pads.
I ran consecutive 2:02-2:04 laps (and it had a lot more in it, I just couldn't get a good lap together). Last time I was out, I ran one 2:07 and had to shut it down because of pad fade.*
The controller is like putting your suspension in cheat mode.
*it was about 15-20 degrees hotter that day though, to be fair.

Ain't it amazing . . . I often think much of the forum thinks we're Kool Aid-drinking zealots, but those who take the plunge are almost always blown away. I still can't believe how good it is 7 months after installation.
Your experience is similar to many others. A lot of folks have reported knocking 2 seconds a lap off right out of the box. The other remarkable thing you'll experience is a lot less traction loss on a hot start. The car just squats and sticks.

For reference, the owner ran a 1:59 in a GT3RS on R-compounds. My GS is on PSS and doesn't even have the stage 3 splitter or something.

I can't speak about the difference the DSC controller makes on a Track.
But on the street, aside from the better ride, the improvement in handling, is Very noticeable.
Especially the way you can actually feel when the rear digs in and grabs pushing it through a turn.
The harder you push it the more it digs in and it's a lot harder now getting the rear tires to break loose

Heh, I'm not sure I even noticed a difference in touring mode.

I'm sorry if this has been answered before, this is a meaty thread, but how simple is this to install. I saw some how-to pictures, but I'm unlikely to DIY this; could a body/specialty shop do the install with the software upload? Regarding software, can it work as a plug-and-play or is there programming involved? I wish I lived near the DSC facility, and have them do it, alas I'm in Florida.

It's VERY simple. Most do it themselves, but I live 30 miles from DSC, and wanted them to do an alignment to their specs, so I watched them install it in about 10 minutes after they finished the alignment.
Most here self-installed, it is plug-and-play, and it comes programmed. You can reprogram settings if you want, but it's not necessary. I haven't touched mine because a) it comes programmed by a master suspension engineer and world-class race car driver, and b) I love it the way it is.
The simple instructions are on the webpage below.

So after you plugged it in, is there any specific initializing procedure? Should I get the car's alignment serviced by the dealership before I do the install, and what are the specs I should be looking for in factory setting?

The only thing you should do is "zero out" the shocks, which needs to be done with you sitting in the driver's seat. That can easily be done before you button everything back up w/ a USB cable connected to a laptop, or it can be done via the built in Wi-Fi. Mike did mine via Wi-Fi with his cell phone. All instructions are on the link I just posted above.
Alignment is probably the trickiest part because most dealers don't have the tool to adjust rear caster. You should find a performance alignment shop, and if you call DSC, they can probably help you find a suitable shop in your area.
The DSC alignment specs are published several places in this thread, but since it is a long thread, here they are again.

I'm in port st lucie, about 200 miles due south of you, that said I may take you up on that install when I decide to pull the trigger.

You actually don't even need to do that. Turn the wheel hard to the left lock, and there's plenty of room.

Right on. I was bleeding my brakes anyway

I watched the youtube video about establishing a wifi connection. I can't say it actually showed you how to do that. Does the device broadcast its own SSID? Is there a password? I'm a little confused.
All I want to do is zero the shocks. Can I do that via wifi? My unit is already installed, so wifi would be easier than pulling down the tire/fender for USB.

Yes, the DSC does broadcast a unique Wi-Fi signal. When you connect the first time, you have to enter a user name and password. You couple to it just like you do any other Wi-Fi device on a smart phone. With the car powered up, go to phone settings, Wi-Fi, and you should see the DSC on the list of in-range Wi-Fi on your phone, just like any other available wireless connection. Connect to it, type the IP address into Google Chrome, and it should come up. That's when you enter your user name and password, and the settings menu is then available.
I can't give you the specific instructions on zeroing the shocks w/ Wi-Fi, because as I said above, Mike did mine in his shop on his cell phone. Call DSC, and I'm sure they can talk you through it.

Need your help. Followed instructions to reset the firmware on the board due to having erratic things going on and now when I try to write the pdts file I get a "device is not responding correctly" message and I have a "service suspension" message on my car. Tried to reset board. Same error.
I was planning on going on a road trip in the morning and really need this fixed.
