I have decided NO GS for me until A8 problems are resolved for good!
I was in the process of dealing for a NEW GS A8 VERT and trading in my 2014 Z51 A6 vert but I am still hearing problems from forum members that own 2017 A8 trannies having issues and problems. I like to upgrade every 3 years if I can but not this time until GM resolves all the problems that certain A8 transmissions are having. Seems like a new thread on a problem with a A8 happening almost every day and other members chiming in on that same thread about their own A8 issues. I will be keeping my LOWLY A6 until all problems are solved. Engine and tranny are to me the two most important technical parts of the car so the last thing I want is my new C7 A8 tranny taken apart and put back together. Really feel sorry for you guys having these issues with your A8'S. Good luck and maybe soon I will be in the A8 club but for now I am staying in the A6 club.

Smart decision. If my new TC fails I'm going back to the darkside and leaving GM.

Facts
Those with problems will chime in on any and every thread posted about the A8. I dont know the numbers but roughly 70% of the cars sold are A8s some people have problems some may just not like the way it works.

I wonder if a lot of the reported problems are from people who have no idea how this transmission is supposed to preform.
It's not your grandfathers tranny, nor does it act like one.
Mine has been spectacular, and I couldn't ask for a more lively ride.

Dave, I understand your concern about the A8, but you might be missing out on some GS enjoyment for limited risk. Not counting 2017 production, there are over 50,000 A8 Corvettes on the road currently (23,232 produced in 2015 and 31,440 produced in 2016). Sure there are folks having issues with their trans, but looking at the sheer number of units produced compared to the number of threads we see on the Corvette forums, it suggests to me that the odds are in your favor that you'll get a good one.
As for the manual trans, even those can have issues. I've seen complaints about difficulty with shifting as well as clutch issues from time to time. We would likely hear of a lot more manual trans issues had 50,000 been produced...
Just some food for thought...

I could not agree more. I have seen post from people that were complaining about the A8 because it would stay in low hear after hard throttle. When in fact it is working perfect as it goes into performance mode. That is one example. Sure there are some issues but a very small percentage when you consider how many are out there. My Z51 A8 has 14K miles and is flawless. My son has the same thing and has tracked it hard-----no issues what so ever.

So Dave, you sound absolutely convinced that the Grand Sport you'd order will definitely have transmission issues?????

Can't blame you Dave, why take a chance with so many having issues. Beyond the torque converter problems, the paddles give you delayed shifts. Buy a manual or wait.
