Well, my experience differs from yours - BIG TIME - I have been using Corvettes as daily drivers for 27 years this month. I have amassed more than 600,000 miles in Corvettes. The only thing of significance that has happened with me through all six cars was having an alternator go bad. Otherwise they've been fine, reliable, dependable cars and a joy to own.

Oh, and I also drive a Ferrari... lovely cars but the maintenance and service can, at times, get a bit on the spendy side - American iron, get it fixed when it breaks and move on....

Got 35,000 trouble free miles (did get the popping top fixed) in my C7....

Jeez... at this point I would need an extremely compelling reason to even consider A8.

I need one too. I'm scared to even try knowing it may just come back. GM does not have a 100% fix on this.

Sorry to hear that and yes GM doesn't have a 100 percent cure for the issue.

Speechless.. Even though its 100% covered, this is out of control.

Makes my decision for an A6 vs A8 seem right.
I find it surprising that GM hasn't solved the problem, and wonder how the A10 will perform.

Ugh, this TC stuff makes me nervous as heck. I hope and pray letting go of my baby number one to get baby number 2 (2017 GS CE) was a good move.......

That looks like a clean well organized garage. lol! Hope that's not a true indication of the quality of their work. Paul

OP, can you share what exactly happened? Was it shuddering? Were the RPMs fluctuating?

I'm not happy looking at this.
I've been reluctant to bring it in for just this reason...knowing it will be torn down like this.

Are the TC failures related to modified engines and launches, burn-outs, etc.? Abrupt loading or excessive heating of the converter is typical cause of failure.

Sorry to hear about your TC problems, especially being so new. I have started an A8 failure poll in this section. Please vote if you get a chance so we can collect decent data for both failure and non failures.

I don't know, but I just drive the bajesus out of mine. Launch control, wide open throttles, paddle shifting. I run it mostly in Track mode and automatic. I'm surprised I have a floor board left. I mean I drive it hard. I am just flabbergasted that this hasn't been addressed yet by GM.
I figured if any were to fail it would be mine. I have almost 25,000 on my build of Oct 2015 and not a hint of any of the mentioned issues. I post this not to make others feel bad, but to show how inconsistent the behavior of the A8 is. I'm probably on borrowed time anyway. This elephant has almost outgrown the living room and will have to be eventually dealt with I believe. It can easily be construed as a safety issue. Some of these cars are lunging when put into gear, the driver feels as though he or she has been hit from behind. And if that isn't a safety issue I don't know what is.

It's too bad that a majority of the failures are happening to first time corvette owners & junior forum members. Not a good impression for a first time experience.
