The oil pressure in the LT1 engine is computer control.

Some of the C7 oil pressure questions come from the system being different than most other oil pressure systems that just use a spring actuated max oil pressure valve. Those just allow oil pressure to increase with rpm to a level where the spring opens a valve that limits max pressure.

The C7 has that system as well and adds a computer controlled passage that also reduces pressure when not needed, to save energy. It uses inputs such as oil temp and engine power demand so you will see some abrupt changes and at times lower pressure than in other cars. Using feedback the computer opens a solenoid to that reduced pressure passage.

Thanks. That explains the fluctuation from low 30's to around 40 psi.
