Default C7 DIY oil life monitor reset

My free oil changes have expired after 2 years and 2 changes.

I will now move to a DIY oil change and I am wondering if it is possible for the DIY owner/driver to reset the "oil life monitor" him or her self.

Please advise if any DIY'er has reset the Oil Life Monitor in DIC.

Thanks in advance

Richard in New Mexico

Scroll down to the Oil Life screen in the DIC and hold the center button on the right side of the steering wheel.

From the Owner's Manual that nobody reads:

How to Reset the Engine Oil
Life System
Reset the system whenever the
engine oil is changed so that the
system can calculate the next
engine oil change. To reset the
system:
1. Scroll through the DIC Info
Pages menu until the
REMAINING OIL LIFE
percentage is displayed. See
Driver Information Center (DIC)
on page 5-24.
2. Press and hold the SEL button
on the DIC while the Oil Life
display is active. The oil life will
change to 100%.
Chevrolet Corvette Owner Manual (GMNA-Localizing-U.S./Canada/Mexico- Black plate (17,1) 6007198) - 2014 - CRC - 2/5/14
Vehicle Care 10-17
If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL SOON
message comes back on when the
vehicle is started, the engine oil life
system has not reset. Repeat the
procedure.

And if you have dry sump, realize you have 2 drain plugs and you check the oil level between 5-10 minutes after turning the car off.

My C7 is a cheap 1LT, so I have a regular oil pan.

Apple and oranges between dry sump and trim level.

Oh, I want a current picture of your car, with the best scenery around!

There's another reason not to trust the oil life monitoring system. If it was really monitoring the oil it would know to reset itself. But no, just keep on reading the owners manual and believing everything it tells you.

What's your reason for not trusting the OLM and the OM in general?

I mean come on, Lisa, if it can't tell the difference between new oil and old how can you trust it?

I was just trying to be funny there. This thread has already succeeded in meeting the OP's needs, along with the requisite reading of the book admonition, so jokes are in order.

I trust it just fine and think it is a cool feature.

Oh, OK.

Where's the darn sarcasm font? I know I need it on both the giving and receiving end. Now I know why some of my humor is just lost on the forum.

Chevy, unlike our Porsche Cayenne that required the dealer to plug the car into his computer to rest GM has always made it an easy task! Folks have already outlined how!

My last two changes I paid $2/quart for Mobil 1 buy purchasing two 5 quart jugs from Walmart (need for my dry sump) at $22/jug and using their $12/jug rebate!

Note their per quart price is must higher, similar to buying elsewhere! Even though you don't need 10 quarts, still cheaper to buy jugs and save that not used for the next change!
