My Torch Red C7 is an Idiot Magnet
Well, ok obviously I suppose, I BOUGHT the car, but besides that.
I have guys in SUVs and pick-up trucks who see me jamming up the road in a rather modest display of aggressive driving on the highway (which in these instances is just going a little faster than the traffic on my right, not shooting holes for daylight, none of that stuff) and *boom* it's like they think now they're in a dick measuring contest with the guy in the hot sports car and they'll show ME.
I had a LITTLE bit of this in the Victory Red 2007 C6 coupe, but at least those idiots were M3 guys who would pull up next to me on the right when I was minding my own business blasting down some empty highway in the left line @ 90 - they wanted to race me. I never took them up on it.
But after a month, I can tell it may be much worse in the new car. Unfortunately in both recent instances my reaction was 'WTF - they MUST be joking' and I hit the hammer to drop them - and when I looked at my speedo I was going 100+. I have to learn to let it go, their idiocy is infecting me.
I'll get there. I swore to myself today afterwards that the next time I'll slow WAY down, swing into the far right lane and set the cruise control to 54 mph. It's like anybody who thinks their car is faster than mine - I mean come on, we all know that 99%+ of the time it isn't. And if it is so what? There is never a reason to get drawn into that madness on a public road.

Most of them are looking for a free display of Corvette power. They know they stand no chance in a race but love the show.

I've always had sports cars and my C7 seems to provoke this behavior more than any other. Idiots in trucks on my ***, blacked out Civics looking to race.....I too hammer down and should let it go.

Sigh.
I'm 50 friggin 9 years old but part of me will always be 13, and the Corvette doesn't help. That's why I like it.
But I have give those guys this look and then pull over and slow down:

This could be like asking the guys @ the corner bar for advice on how to get sober.

I have the same color C7. I also noticed this constant display from other drivers, including Priuses! I was in 7th in eco mode, going like 70 mph, and had a Prius blow past me. Since I have nothing to prove, I let the overweight blonde chick feel a sense of superiority for the thirty seconds it took her to do that move.

Also, bear in mind that by inciting the Prius to floor the accelerator, you lowered her mpgs, so you win.

Where I live its always the trucks........big trucks, little trucks, jacked up trucks, diesel smoke spewing from the 5 inch exhaust pipes. They get on your azz and stay there. I usually play dumb until hitting a long sweeper or some tight twisty curves. The hit the gas and watch them disappear

I can hit the hyperspace button all right, but much of the time you get blocked by traffic ahead and these morons catch up to you.
The one time I dropped these two SUV imbeciles @ 107 mph going up a 4-5% grade on the interstate and was able go dive right into my exit ramp, so that time it worked. Who in their right mind tailgates a late model Corvette @ 95 mph in a high center of gravity SUV. That really is epic stupid @ its worst.
Not as stupid as me getting peeved and driving that fast in response perhaps, but most of you here understand my reactions.

My GRAY C7 does NOT attract idiots. It attracts many respectable car people, people who think it looks great, even kids who think it's cool, rad, etc. Many are interested in sports cars, and Corvettes in particular. Red cars attract crazy people!

Heck, this past summer, I was driving through an adjacent neighborhood on a nice sunny day and some guys hanging out in someone's driveway yelled, "Light 'em up!" so I revved it a little for them, but didn't do anything crazy. Definitely an attention getter and I'm driving a "fly under the radar" silver C7...

Even though it is sacrilege for me to even acknowledge that possibility.
Hey, you get what you pay for, I suppose driving a blacked out red Corvette that looks like this is like wearing a big sign on your back that says 'race me'. Didn't get that so much in the old C6, but this car does look more exotic and badass.
I didn't buy it for the low key conservative styling.

Those guys with those diesel pickups DO think they're fast. You can get allot of HP out of those turbos with a chip and injectors, pumps etc...
That's why it's fun to let then in front for a second then blow them away...they get mad!! so much fun!

Looks like we are neighbors, I see the Healy on the plate. People tell me they saw me and I say it wasn't me because I was out of town, kinda figured there was another TR Vette running around.

Where I live nobody really looks twice at it. Every now and then I'll get a mini van that wants to put on a power show, but otherwise 95% of the people are too self absorbed or simply don't care what anyone else is driving.

My red Z06 didn't get anywhere the same amount of attention as either of my Verts have.
You've seen one red Vette, you've seen them all; you see one blue Vette, and you walk into a tree. True story.
