Do I need to test drive a C7 before I buy?
I have been looking for a while for a c7 and found one that meets my needs but its about 14 hours away. I have never driven a c7 but did own a 2011 grand sport. There really isnt many around here that are not overpriced.
If i loved my 2011 GS then there should be no doubt I will love a C7 right? It's a 14 Z51 2lt with mag ride.
Of course I will drive it when i get there before I buy.
I didnt really want to buy til around march but havent found many wondering if I should wait til next month and then try?

Yes, if you loved your C6 GS, there's a very high probability you will like this one even more. Obviously, you want to test drive the car you're interested in purchasing, and most importantly, have a dealer run the VIN for it's maintenance history before you go see it.
If the car has had all scheduled services on time, and has no record of significant warranty repairs, it's likely to be a very reliable car.
EDIT, just saw your last post. The C7 seats are more "supportive" than the C6, which some would say makes them tighter. At least go sit in one and make sure you are comfortable.

I actually did test drive mine after they took it out of the transport mode. Was kind of worried the sales guy was going to stain the seat. Luckily, he didnt but did mutter a comment like "well its your license" or something. I was impressed and took it home. Nothing but fun since.

I agree - if you were new to the vette I'd say you should test drive (as I did). Consensus is the C7 is pretty much a C6 improved in every way.

As a rule I do not test drive a car till I am well through my decision process, but I will before purchase. I did drive both A8 and M7. It is also nice to see 1lt to a 3lt. Coupe vs convertible. I even had one dealer let me drive a Z06. Wow.
This is all part of the buying process. Once you drive it off the lot it is yours.
Have fun.

Test driving the C7 is dangerous.
I test drove one over the winter break in anticipation of ordering a grand sport in the spring.
Ended up buying a Stingray the next week as my new daily driver.

^^^ First test drive in mine was when I drove it home from the dealer. No regrets whatsoever, but at 6'2" and 230#, I get the seat thing. My wife bitches that there's less room in the passenger side if that matters to you.

I went from a 2003 AE C5 to my 2014 C7. The car feels significantly smaller in the cockpit. I am 5' 11" at 185, so I fit fine but it is definitely smaller than your C6, and a lot smaller feeling than my C5.
I do love driving the car and it is way more car than the C5 was.
I ordered it in February 2014, when no local dealers were letting you do test drives, so as someone else said; my test drive in a C7 was when I drove it home from the dealer on April 1.
Even if the local cars are too expensive I say go sit in it, drive it if you can. And then you will feel comfortable with the one you are looking at that includes a road trip.

Plus, as some have said, it's a little tighter than the C6 you own now, possibly due to seat design, dash and console design, too. I'd also suggest you sit in your current passenger seat, and see if you "feel" any difference in the C7's. Some have said it's a noticeable difference.

Point is, your 2011 GS although exemplary, is boring compared to the C7 experience. It is a wholly different car.
In another life I used to ferry Ferraris around the country for NY's largest Ferrari dealer. The C6 feels like and drives like a Corvette. The C7 feels like and drives like a Ferrari. I've driven plenty of both. You will LOVE the C7!

I'm 5' 10", 210 lbs., and I find the C7 (2014 3LT) standard seats very comfortable.
I also skipped the test drive when I bought mine new off the showroom floor. The puppy comment is not too far out there! I didn't test drive the new Silverado I bought last month, either. Buying used, however, would be a different story but I would say you are plenty safe to verbally commit and make the 14 hour trip. If there are any doubts when you get there you are only 14 hours away from back home.
