Default Man Pays Corvette Sales Tax in Pennies

300,000 pennies are apparently enough to cover the sales taxes for two cars in Virginia.

Must be nice to have so much time (and money) on your hands that you can take a day off to do this kind of prank *and* pay others $1000 just to help.

And I'm sure that his 'plight' really resonates with people -- "couldn't immediately find out which of his FOUR HOUSES to register his brand new Corvette so as to pay the least taxes..." so he decides to throw a hissy-fit display.

He comes across as quite the ******... wish he had bought a different car than a Corvette.

Other than satisfying a need for attention, I've never understood the point of these types of actions.

He won't be smiling when the DMV tells him all coins must be rolled to be accepted.

Did he bring the pennies in wet too? I think I see moisture on the black wheelbarrows. I'd hate to have any dealings with that man, even a good morning may be unpleasant.

Those look like new wheelbarrels. So he spent over $150 to do something that's a given in most states, pay the sales tax. If ha hates the tax that much, why doesn't he just move to New Hampshire? They don't have a sales tax.

I, for one, applaud the man. Peaceful civil disobedience is a dying art and should be exercised often.

I just wonder how stupid people have become when they need a calculator to determine that 300,000 pennies = $3,000.00. What is moving the decimal point two positions to the left to divide by 100 really that difficult to do?

What a dick. To make a point he made life hell for the DMV workers who had nothing to do with the making the rules and the people in line around him trying to get their issues dealt with.

They could have easily refused because all pennies is not "An acceptable method of payment" in many places.

We are all partially responsible for what our government forces us to do (like paying taxes). This includes those DMV workers. As such, they have as much to do with "making the rules" as you and I do. Remember it's "We the people..."

I thought US currency, of which a penny is part, is supposed to be legal tender for all debts public and private. If so then this would certainly qualify.

OK I decided. I like the Admiral blue wheelbarrows with the low profile tire and painted gray rims over the base black models.
Especially like the optional black handles with color matched grips.
The biggest problem is I think he has exceeded the new wheelbarrow break in by going to max weight.
I wonder how he paid the dealer.
