NCM Bash-Transmission presentation called From 3 speed-10 Speed-Now the truth Post 68
Is this a nip slip on a new 2018 10 speed tranny? Im guessing so why else include a transmission we don't have yet?

Good evening,
This is Paul and I am the one presenting this event at the NCM.
#1, I have NO KNOWLEDGE OF TRANSMISSION CHOICES IN FUTURE MODELS OF CORVETTE. I do not speak for GM nor do I represent them.
#2, I am a GM world class certified technician and Corvette certified technician and study constantly. The 10R transmission is now in the Camaro for 2017, that is where my information on the 10R comes from, my training.
#3, my presentation illustrates how many different facets of powertrains interact and why if you look at the present and understand how it works, the future will become possible.
#4, I appreciate the enthusiasm for my seminars at the NCM, however, I present only information that is readily available to anyone if one does accurate research.
Thank you in advance for all your point and responses. I will look forward to seeing you all at the Bash in April.
Professionally, Paul Koerner

Does this really mean the 2018 will have the A10? Sounds like a transmission historical overview and they could be referencing the A10 in the Camaro, etc. I hope it's in the 2018.

As long as they continue to offer a manual transmission I am happy.

Very interesting! Since I can't make the Bash this year I am counting on some dedicated folks to keep those of us not there informed about all the news. Thanks in advance.

Nope. This is how rumors get started. See a headline and make assumptions. Given the data there is no reason to suppose 2018 gets us an A10. Maybe.

You wouldn't be talking about a 10 speed at a Corvette only event if a 10 speed wasn't on the menu somewhere. Considering the A8 has turned out to be quite the lemon who should be surprised?

It seems like the higher is goes, the worse it gets... A6-A8-A10? Hopefully they'll get the bugs worked out before hand.
I agree w/dvilin... I'm good w/the M7

1) OP, you certainly know how to jump to a conclusion.
2) As much as you'd like to be correct about a replacement for the A8 in 2018, you are going to be disappointed.
3) If the A8 really is a "lemon" as you have called it, why did you buy a 2017 A8 Grand Sport?

I also saw a quote from a year or so ago where a GM representative said the new 10 speed they devolved would not fit in the C7. Perhaps they made some modifications but nothing is certain.

I don't know why there is so much attention for a possible 10 speed transmission. The more complicated they become the repair prone they are.
Whats to gain? Maybe .05 in the quarter? The more gears the more it will search for the right one in day to day driving.
10 speed auto is just as stupid as a 7 speed manual. I told my wife don't even worry about 7th, just a waste.
