Makes zero sense not to get the track insruance. This guy buys a $80 +/- car and decides to forego the insurance....wow! When I tracked mine (road course), I bought the coverage. I'm glad I did, because I certainly had crashing in the back of my mind most of the day.

Wtv what's the point of insuring a car if you can't race it and have a bad day ;;; insurance sucks as far as I know you can't pay enough money to get insurance at drag strip !!! If it happen to me I would tell the truth and insist they pay for it *** don't think the guy really deserves since he had to white lie to get what he pays for and in turn has to pay and pay even more
My 2 cents

It's the same old story....he lost it when he grabbed the next gear (that 2-3 gets 'em every time).

Insurance is a racket. I only keep collision when the cost of the car is more than the cost of equivalent replacement. Which is usually until the car is about 10 years old. Of course if you have a loan on it, you legally need collision.
After that, it's PLPD and I pay for everything out of pocket. Not worth paying an insurance company if all they will do is "total" your car when you make a claim. My deductible is $2000 as is, and refuse to claim anything under $3000.

That was hard to watch.
If the track had foreign contaminates left over from another user, the track should be liable. People go to the track because it is supposed to be the safest venue for legally racing your car. If they don't keep the track clean then they should be forced to follow the old adage, you play, you pay...meaning if they can't be bothered to check and clean the track after every run then it needs to hit them in their bottom line.

I didn't say what they did was illegal, they use NADA black book (typically). I said it was a racket. There is a difference! I have to pay for insurance regardless if I want to or not and I'm at the mercy of the insurance companies who typically all have similar policies on what they cover. The value I get from the insurance versus the cash I must pay for it is not correct, but I can't control that because the insurance companies all have nearly the same rates because they all use nearly the same equations done by the same types of underwriters who listen to the same actuaries. Basically, in my mind cost in does not warrant coverage, and I can't just flip them the bird, cause you know, laws.

Read your policy. What you can and cannot do are clearly spelled out in the policy. Make sure you check the Exclusions Clause to see what isn't covered. You can stomp your feet and scream at the top of your lungs but it wouldn't make a difference to them. If it isn't covered it isn't covered and you didn't pay to get it covered.

That is not correct- I looked into it for the Texas Mile....it's insanely expensive $1500 for 2 days....I passed but it's available.

Ironically the drag strip in general (,not what main subject of this thread is about ) is the safest form of driving that ever and will ever exist ; I'll list my opinion based on 500 drag passes and millions of highway driving ( I'm only 35 years of age) this order in safest to least ; insurances companies can say they follow wtv law but they only follow what will make them the most money
1) ihra or nhra drag strip
2) driving to work
3) driving to work on inclement weather
4) road coarse events or roll racing at a drag strip
5) 3 honk racing on public roads in "Mexico "
