Can you help me decide between these two Vettes?
#21
I thought I would buy manual, but ended up with an A8. I live in an area with a lot of stop & go traffic... I have bad knees, and I finally decided I didn't want to do all the clutch work while driving around town. The A8 does have paddle shifters, so you can always throw it in manual if you want to be more involved. I am happy with my A8 choice. Plus, I believe A8 is faster than M7. That said, I like the LBR better than the DSOM, but that is personal choice. As someone else already said, I would figure out what you really want (Transmission, color, trim, etc) and wait till you find your perfect car. There are a lot of them out there to choose from.

Ok, one more comment on the M7 since I already made one. Mine is a daily driver. 2015 and I have 30,000 miles on it. Drive approx. 75 miles a day round trip to and back from work. With about 8 miles each way being stop and go traffic. The M7 is great! You will be part of the car....

I have a 2016 2lt with the a8 and it works great. I too was going for the m7 as I have had several manual cars in the past but the a8 during the test drives won me over. Not saying my next one won't be manual. Only 2300 miles but no trans issues for me.
Go with what you want. Sounds like you might not be happy with the m7 if you're set on the auto.

don't listen to these people when it comes to which one is "better", 100 different people, one hundred different answers. Take both for a test drive and decide for yourself.
If you need advice or have questions about your car then come here, if you want opinions don't bother, go with what you like the best, simple.

General advice is buy the newer car, and the one in the best condition. If you can live without the auto trans, and the '15's equipment, there's no doubt in my mind: '16 for many reasons.
But really, I don't think you'll go wrong with the '15---how's that for being wishy-washy?

As others said there are tons of low mileage used ones, hold out for what you want if one of these two does not do it for you.

kelsvet/OP,
It sounds to me as if you're shying away from an M7 stick. Really, you might be considering the stick, a hassle? I hear you. You may have gotten your fill of sticks in your younger days. I dunno. As theMonk said, it's all up to you.

I have a 15 Z51 3LT Daytona Sunrise Orange metallic with the A8. I never thought I would own an automatic, all my previous Vettes have been manual. The A8 is outstanding no problems what so ever. My son has a 15 with A8 and tracks it quite a bit no issues. Percentage wise the A8 has very few problems and most are either driver error or perhaps in some cases the TC. The A8 is getting a bad rap.

I don't know how anyone can answer the manual vs. automatic question for you.
However, I wouldn't consider any C7 without MSRC.

99% of the answers you get are going to be based on what side of the manual/auto religious war the poster stands on. I've been driving manuals for close to 30 years, am 10+ years older than you, and still refuse to consider any car purchase unless it's manual. I want control over when the gears shift. But that's me, that doesn't mean you want that.
If you are waffling on the transmission on car A and waffling on the age/features of car B then IMO you should wait and not buy either; there are too many vettes out there to buy when you are waffling.

I love the paddleshift A6-A8 but the 2015 model year has too many redflags as you can read about here on the forum, so I would go for the 16. But you will wish you had the NPP exhaust. The 16 has the flat bottom steering wheel also which is cool....

Hold out for what you really want. I don't like the manual transmissions especially when caught in rush hour traffic. At least with the Auto's you can use the paddle shift if you really want to drive it manually. If your set with either one I would go with #2.
