Default Powerstop Brake Pads: Z23 or Z26?

I want to replace the brake pads on my new Grandsport, cannot take the terrible dust any longer! Have read about the Powerstops here on the forum but cannot decide if I need the Z26"s or if the Z23"s might really be a better choice for me. I do not as the norm drive my GS aggressively at all and do not brake hard. I wonder if the Z23 would not even be a better choice for me as they may be less noisy with the rubber backing on the plates. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I put z26 pads on my z51, for the same reason that I selected the z51 option; I like heavy duty parts on my car. The local Chevy dealership with the best corvette tech installed them Thursday. The service coord said the tech told him he didn't use the powerstop spring plate backs because the Brembo spring plate backs had an extra slot in them. Of course they returned to me the old Brembo pads along with the powerstop spring plates.

I broke them in, according to the powerstop instructions, on the Blue Ridge parkway after installation and they stopped the car and didn't explode upon hard use. Corrosive brake dust on my wheels is history!

I went with the Z26 Powerstops. There is NO noise associated with having the metal backing plates. As I'm sure you've already read, there is next to NO dust, or brake fade either.

As some have cautioned about turning your rotors brown, I have seen NO sign of discoloring.

LOVE THEM !!!!!!

If I were to do it again, I'd again go with Z26 We have a '17 Grand Sport. I put my pads on over a year ago.

I have a 16 Z51 Stingray with 16K miles. Never been into the brembo brakes. What are the spring back plates and extra plate on the Brembos?

Thanks

Put the Z26 Powerstops on my '17 GS right after I bought it. Been happy with them.

I put the Z17's on my CTS at 3,000 miles. I now have 7,600 and they have been dust free and flawless. My 2016 is at 1,050 miles and I'm going to put the 26's on now. I was skeptical because of the price. This product is fine IMSO.

What are the spring back plates and extra plate on the Brembos?
Member Ozzstar will explain all in his video. Note, Ozzstars method is contraindicated by Powerstop. in the olden days you just pushed the piston back in the caliper to make the new pads fit. Powerstop advises bleeding the system at the caliper to push the piston back in; just in case you might damage some part of the ABS system by pushing fluid back up the brakeline. They didn't have ABS when I was a boy, and now i am too old to learn the ABS system and if Powerstop's advice is true. All I remember is that i hated bleeding brakes on Sunbeams, Triumphs and MG's when I had to rebuild those leaky wheel and master cylinder rubber seals. So this time i went to a corvette tech to change the pads. And if the ABS light came on after he finished, his bad, not mine. The ABS light did not come on.

I also put the z26s on my 2015 z51 to get rid of the constant brake dust. The price difference between the z26s and the z23s is negligible, so like you prefer to keep heavier duty parts on my vette. I installed them myself after watching a few YouTube videos. I didn't use the Powerstop spring plate either as it didn't fit properly, so I reused the original. The brake pads virtually eliminated the dust and zero squealing.

Made up my mind! Watched ZZStars You Tube on installing the pads. Going with the Z26s from Amazon. Also going with new Michelin Pilots and an Alignment with DSC street & track specs.

Can you recommend a shop in Dallas area that can do the job according to DSC specs?

Thanks a million.

Have them on my 2014 Z51. No dust or noise, and they even stop the car. Fantastic price too. I had Abel Chevrolet do the install and they broke them in too. I really don’t see the brown color others claim.

Put the Z26's on over the weekend. I didn't use the powerstop clips that came with them as well. Opted for the originals which are in my mind better. No dust no brown. Stops perfect. Great pads

$117 was the total price on Amazon for both the front and back Powerstop z26's for my 2015 z51. The price most likely varies depending on exact part numbers for other model vettes.
My suggestion is to go to the PowerStop webpage https://www.powerstop.com/ and find their part number/s for your 2019 GS. Then go to Amazon (or price through other online retailers) and look search for the part number/s separately for the front and rear.
