Default Pearl Nickel Z06 wheels...

Are there any vendors out there that offer the Z06 replica wheels in the Pearl Nickel finish that will fit a Grand Sport? I can get chrome, black and black chrome but I can't seem to find pearl nickel finish. I suspect it's because these are the stock wheels and most people want black or chrome. If push comes to shove I will get the black chrome to replace the black wheels on my incoming Grand Sport which has black wheels. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.

Try posting a want to buy ad in the C7 parts forum. I would think that quite a few people would have them sitting around after buying chrome or black ones from HOW.

You might even find someone who wants to swap your black GS wheels for their Pearl Nickle Z06 wheels

Pearl Nickel is just a paint color as is black. Some with black wheels have had them powder coated. Wonder what powder coating a Nickel Silver color would cost? You would have a more durable finish. Perhaps a member would know.

You must have been reading my mind. I was just researching powder coating when you posted this advice. It looks like powder coating 19-20 inch wheels runs about $75 per wheel. A local shop I researched has a 4 wheel special for $475. Powder coating, mounting and balancing. Obviously I'd have to check them out first to see if they can handle the Grand Sport wheels, but thanks for the advice.

If anyone else has suggestions for powder coating in the Phoenix area let me know.

Great minds think alike!

You'll have a more durable coating and perhaps won't need to replace the brake pads because the GS pads may cause painted wheels to pit- at least that was my experience with my Z51.

However having to clean them every 100 to 150 miles will get old! Just member there is an easy solution!

Aren't those Z06 style wheels a bear to keep clean?

Yep unless you switch to ceramic brake pads! In fact if you track you can switch back to OEM pads or better- buy racing only pads. They must be warm/hot to stop and then switch to street pads when using it on the road. The stock pads are a compromise and dust excessively!

With race pads, may be able to beat you buddy's time by stopping better and when you switch back, won't have to clean your wheels every 100 miles when using it on the street!

Yes, they are...depending on tools, it takes a good 5 minutes per wheel.

IIRC, there are some aftermarket brake pads that are much better in keeping wheels clean (sorry, I don't remember the brands).
