2016 Corvette makes CR's worst used car list
I just got my Consumer Reports Annual Auto Issue. I did note that one of the worst used cars they cited was the 2016 Corvette.
No that wouldn't stop me from buying one either, but thought you Corvette Cadets would want to know.
I have a 2017, let's hope the reliability improved. One can only hope. So far so good, but it only has 1400 miles.

Since Consumer Reports does not release their raw statistics nor their methodology, it's difficult to tell how valid their conclusions are. We don't know their sample size. We don't know the statistical tests they used. There is no way to assess how valid they are. We can't check their work. So as long as they keep these issues shrouded in secrecy, there's no real reason to pay much attention to them. For people who follow them blindly, they might make a decision based on these results. Bearing in mind also that there are still new 2016s on lots, if there are truly "used" 2016s in the market, they represent people who did not keep their new cars for more than a few months. I'm not inclined to pay much attention to them myself.

I wonder how big a part the A8 transmission played in this.

CR is not my go to authority on cars so their report is meaningless.

I disagree
I have found CR to be a fair and generally accurate when you are dealing with cold numbers; what they cannot (nor should they attempt to) deal with are those ideas/feelings/concepts that do not fit well into any concrete category, which is alot of what drives (no pun intended) people to purchase types of cars, like Vettes that are right brain purchases where CR is a left brained publication....still valuable but not definitive....

I love my 2017 Stingray 2LT - but I have had it one month today and have only 550 miles on it. By the way, it's also an M7 (would not have it any other way).
As for CR? They also slammed the Nissan Altima. My daily driver is a 2015 Altima 2.5 S with 35,000 miles on it and I honestly can't complain too much about it. It does what it's supposed to do, never left me sit (knock on wood) and has - so far - been reliable.
The Camry and Accord are a bit nicer, but they also cost a tad more.

I agree that CR has very little credibility when it comes to vehicle ratings and perhaps other things they rate as well. It's based upon self-report data and a limited sample size.
In 2014, the C7 scored well with CR based upon what they called "reliability." The cars are not fundamentally different in subsequent model years with the exception of the A8.
CR is all about making money, and you don't have access to, or participate in, their ratings unless you pay to join.

"CR" bases their reliability ratings on surveys submitted by subscribers. There's no way to know how many responses they received per model (that I am aware of) and although they do break down the different automobile systems to be rated, it's very subjective.
Also, I wonder how many Corvette owners are subscribers. I am one, but I've been dragging my fingers completing the most recent survey.
Like all the rest of these ratings - or forums - deals, if you're unsatisfied with something, you're probably more likely to submit a negative review or comment.
I still find their auto reviews worth reading but factor their opinions in with what traditional auto mags have to say.

I feel it's not the year but the used price. Earlier C7's are priced a little
better for the used car buyer. Also rumor has it they are closing
the plant for 4 months do to 1. Dealer overstock 2. Retooling for the also rumored mid-engine. Any one guess.
