Service rear axle
2014 Z51 A6
For the last 6 months, I have been having an intermittent warning come up on my dash........"Service Rear Axle". I have read in various forum posts about other people having similar problems but not exactly like mine so I thought I'd share my experience in case someone else is having the same problem.
In addition to the 'Service Rear Axle' warning, my launch control would not work either. About 3 weeks ago I took my car to my local Chevy dealer and they could not replicate the service warning and there were no codes to be found. They did (I think that is what it is called) a Universal Reset and the problem went away. Today, the warning light came back on and I immediately took it to the dealer and left it running.
Their one and only Corvette mechanic found a code and said there is a Service Bulletin for this problem. I have attached the service sheet because I am NOT mechanically inclined and don't claim to understand the problem but the Service Mgr said it had something to do with the differential clutch. Please forgive me if I am not getting the lingo exact.
If anyone else is having this warning on their '14 Z51 A6, there is a Service Bulletin which includes a software patch to fix the problem. However, the Service Mgr said, "Let's keep our fingers crossed this fixes it."

Got the warning on the way to Stanford Chevrolet for an oil change....pointed it out, and they basically stated it needs to be checked by an electrician tech, but checking while on the lift, there is no mechanical/low fluid issue, so we just put it on hold. Glad you posted this bulletin.

when it's cold out I sometimes get that warning, I just reset it and it doesn't come up again while driving, I'm thinking that if it was a hard code (one that comes on all the time) after resetting it should come up again but it doesn't. Also, if there was something wrong with the rear axle you'd think that I would get a traction control warning light on as well but I don't.

How do you reset it?

Good luck. Perhaps you read my thread on this topic from back in 2015. Anyway, after 6 trips to service, along with a month in the shop,I got a new car via the Lemon Law. My avatar shows that car. My 2016 is an exact copy. I have had no problems with my 2016 at this time.

It's been a month and a half since this post/they did a reset and (knock on wood) I haven't had any more issues either. I'm hoping it stays that way.
