GM s automatic transmissions at all out track performance is an excellent performing transmission...

Full throttle performance is amazing...

The performance algorithm of the tpautomatic transmission is killer...

The problem comes down to street driving.....with a little hot ******* it...

But not full all out ...

The Automatics are lethargic to a degree.....ie paddle downshift ...delay...

I've been driving manuals for 40 years.,.i kind of wanted my next corvette to be an automatic as the technology definitely makes them quicker ....just not ready to get rid of my manual transmission corvette for the new A8...

Vastly superior to previous corvette automatic transmissions....but just not quite as impressive as Porsches PDK..I don't want to buy a German Porsche with all its inherent service and repair potiential issues....not to mention costs...

Go drive both corvettes...manual and automatic and decide for yourself

If I were buying today? I'd probably go for the slightly slower accelerating manual transmission...jmo

Outside of those things????
That is exactly what I am talking about. Those are the computer assisted "things" that I was referring to in my post. Some of the M7 owners are saying that Sports cars aren't sports cars unless they are manuals, then turn around and sing the praises of the computer assisted "Rev matching." That was my point, not those who "chose not to use them."

I guess I just don't see your point. To be honest, it sounds defensive.

OP do you want to "drive" the car or "ride" in the car?

I am a manual guy. 100% of the time, and have been that way since I bought my first car nearly 30 years ago. I enjoy the engagement, I feel like I am more one with the car and have more control. I generally enjoying rowing gears and determining when to shift. My wife has an automatic in her car so worse case I would drive that if I was ever injured, etc and could not physically drive a stick for awhile.

The thing about these types of threads is that it does not matter what I think. What do you prefer? Drive both and decide for your own needs. If you are concerned about the A8 issues, then you have to factor that in, but if you truly prefer an automatic then I would buy one and deal with issues if they come up via warranty.
