Racing thread. Chicks thread
Wrong use of "to". Should have been "too"

Absolutely my first Vette was a total babe magnet. Met lots of girls with it. Most of those that I met through other means were totally into the Corvette when it was used on a first date. Actually met the first woman I was engaged to through the Corvette club, but it didn't work out.
However, that was my first Vette, a 69 and that was in the 70s. Things have changed. Women today are not into old men and my wife frowns on any messing around. So I don't know how young, single men with Corvettes are doing today.

As a heterosexual female, i obviously did not buy the vette to pick up chicks.... or men either for that matter, lol. After I thought about the above statement, I have to admit, there is some accuracy to it, at least in my case; however, keep in mind there is only so much that a hot, sexy car can compensate for, and some may need to consider adding that puppy!

I did what cbach did. The Corvette is my wife's hot rod (she'd have been happy with a base convertible, I picked out the Z06 for her). The pecking order of my 3 current vehicles is truck #1, street rod #2 and Corvette last.
At my age, I don't give a rip about impressing chicks. And yes, when I'm out walking my puppy, I get all ages of girls/women that just have to stop and ask about him and pet him.

The Gallardo example is right on. My friend has one and he is contantly getting young chicks that want his money.
I will tell the best bang for the buck for getting chicks car was a plymouth prowler. You wouldn't believe how many girls i could have picked up in that car and wanted a ride. So my wife made me sell it.

I feel the reason why not many girls are impressed is because the area I live in just 1 years tax on a house can be $40k a year which is almost the cost of a Corvette. I live in the most expensive place in the United states as far as cost of living goes. So my $65k car is looked at like a hatch back Kia with crank down windows. Now when I move down to Florida I might feel like a baller
EDIT I wanted to add this link to cost of living cause I know I will be called out on it.

Defiantly did not buy the car as a chick magnet. The one I have has cost me a fortune and any future one would cost half my present fortune. Having said that I have had a fair amount of women say how beautiful my car is. The latest one I'm backing into a parking spot at the gym. I'm 58, pretty good shape for 58 and as I backing in there is a women sitting in her car talking on the phone, window down, she is making eyes at me. Ok what's weirding me out is she's a good 75 or later, very well kept and attractive for her age but yeah a little old for my taste. My roofs off and windows down, I shut off the car and even though she's on the phone she starts talking to me. Her words "your car is beautiful" yeah she's making eyes at my car. Anyway after a couple of seconds of small talk about the car she guesses "is that a corvette" I was more then impressed that she would have known. Really nice women and the whole deal just kind of made my day.
