Sounds like opportunity knocking if you are in the market.

Make mine a '17 black base, A8, NPP, red calipers, battery protection, I'll offer 23% off MSRP delivered to my door.

I happily adopted one at 21% off. Unsure of the business model, but it worked for me!

I don't doubt it.. The GS 3LT 8A that I test drove back in August before ordering mine is still sitting on the lot.

If there are any significant changes for 2018 model year (refreshed exterior, HP bump, 10 speed auto) expect some YUGE discounts on 2017 and still leftover 2016 models.

They are getting into the discount range where I bought my C6... I'm thinking the time is approaching.

Dealer near to me has a red 16 3LZ Z06 on the lot.
Black wheels, black interior with red stitching, and the A8.
MSRP is $96K and change.
Dealer has been sitting at $85K for months.

I will not be in a position to buy until mid summer.

I contacted several dealers when looking at 2016 leftovers (this was on base and Z51 Stingray) and all of them were willing to give me 20-22% off list price (which was lower than their advertised online price). My guess is you could get this car (or one like it) for high $70's.

If BG keeps turning out cars through the summer and sales don't pick up dealers will be giving Corvettes away by July.

It's still Winter, half the nation got clobbered by snow storm.
For much of the nation, Corvette's a fair weather ride.
Many aren't actively shopping, quite yet.

Let's revisit these #s 3rd week of April thru' May.
Think there'd still an over supply once the 'season' gets rolling?

I can only hope you are right.

0% for 72 sure looks good.

I simply have to wait until mid summer at the earliest.

I'm sure it will help but dealers keep ordering these like they think it is 2014 or something. If you look at Cargurus it is suprising how many Corvettes have been sitting on dealer lots for 3 months, 6 months, and some even 9+ months. Yet they keep ordering more. Crazy.

If the inventory surplus is that great, 330 days worth, I would think it would be cheaper to stop production early and sell what already has been produced. Unless the 2018s are going to be vastly different (improved)
it will affect the new model year sales as well. I get that the dealerships need movement of product. Watering down the value of the car will make it worse in the long run IMO. We all know chevy has made a great car with the corvette. We also should be aware that there is a supply and demand problem management should have seen coming.

Yes, it is crazy.
From the very rollout of C7 seemed GM cranked up production to some stunning year-end #s thru' '16.
While many thought it great, verified popularity?
High production #s must have a negative impact on resale, especially w/ unsold never titled stock. Crazy, indeed.

Still #s aren't a real tell, many believe economy's set to take-off xlat'g into much stronger Corvette sales. Firming prices follow demand.

One thing's for certain, right now's a buyer's market.

Well, you also have to consider that inventory is always high from November to April because most of the country is in "winter" mode. these levels should drop significantly in the next 30-50 days as spring arrives in the northern half of the country. That being said, I bought a 16 in January for 61k with a MSRP of 80,255. I'm not great at math but that looks like 24% off all day every day. It will be good pickins.....there WILL be incentives for the dealers from GM to help them move the inventory soon.

I thought the factory was shutting down for an extended period of time this summer, as in months--not weeks, for a major re-tooling. I may be wrong about this second part, but I heard that all corvettes built are ordered, either by customers or dealers. So isn't it reasonable to assume the factory (and dealers) are front loading inventory so there are still cars on the lots for the several months the plant will be closed?

The short answer to that it "yes" that does play a part. GM will "help" them sell the cars that they "force" them to take for inventory.

Forum dealers were already discounting as early as February 2014. I got 8% off MSRP in February 2014.
