Default Some people.......

So, it was a beautiful Sunday afternoon. The wife and I got out and about for a few hours with nothing in particular to do, but cruise. I decided to stop at Costco to grab a couple items, while the wife waited in the car. We parked far out in the lot, as usual. A new Accord happened to have done the same. When I returned, my wife proceeds to tell me about the family of four who belonged to the Accord. As they walk past our car, the young daughter asked what kind of car it was. The father replied that it is a Corvette, a car that rich people who have more money than sense, drive. About that time, the mother noticed that my wife was in the car, so she tells her husband to shut up, that someone is in the car. My wife says that they then circle around our car as they leave, staring at her.

It made my wife uncomfortable as she's a very humble person. We're not rich, and we've worked hard for everything that we have. I swear - stupid people and their stupid comments.

Dad's just jealous. He married his gal for lust before he managed to get a good education and suddenly has two kids and a fat wife with no way out with a dead-end job and all he can afford is an Accord on payments. He's balding and has a gut and is shooting for the trifecta of high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and Type 2 diabetes before he is 50. He knows he is screwed and at a deep visceral level he knows it's his own fault. When he says something like That guy has more money than sense." what he is REALLY saying is, "I coulda been a contenda!"

I agree....I have the same issue with people, I have worked hard as hell to have what I have and if anyone ever says that to me about my Z06 I will tell then to screw off, I worked hard for what I have.

It is so strange....any given Corvette cost about the same as any given high end SUV....and yet people see the Vette as a big extravagant purchase, while the SUV is just another SUV. Odd.

Human mis-aligned perception.....people can be horrible.

A Corvette is the one sports car that actually makes a lot of sense and is quite attainable compared to the German and Italian stuff. But most people are jealous and hate on achievement. I apologize for nothing.

Always glad when someone who has no idea about me can confirm that I have more money than sense. I was sensible enough to get a lot of education and to not knock up some broad to have to marry who absolutely had to have a pack full of kids to have to haul around for 18 years in a lame family sedan. Now tell me again, who has a lack of sense? Glad that D bag has it all figured out.

LOL! One time at a parade with the top down, we overheard a family with a young daughter probably between the ages of 5 and 8. The daughter said to her mother "Mommy, I want a car like that" The mother responded without hesitation "well, you better marry rich" LOL!!!

What a missed parenting opportunity for the dad. Instead of acting like a "have not" and wallowing in personal financial sorrow, he could of said something positive and influential such as....

"That is a corvette my dear, the greatest American car built by hard working Americans. You should study and do well in school so that one day you will have one too."

To some, the corvette being a 2 seater with an oversized engine is impractical. I'm not disagreeing, but I think cost isn't the only thing that factors into the equation when people judge.

Well, that's the problem - it's MY car and she was caught in the crossfire. Women will never let you hear the end of it.

Yes! Completely agree. My father always told me when I liked expensive things to study diligently, work hard, and that someday, I could convert some of that sweat equity into the things that I desired.

Unfortunately, America is scattered with twatwaffles these days.

This is entertaining. I wouldn't leave my wife in the car by herself in a parking lot especially Costco.

Yeah, that dude sounds like an idiot. I just feel sorry for his kids.. On a similar but good note, I was parking in front of a sandwich shop when my wife went inside to get some sandwiches. A lady and her son young son (maybe 5 or so) walked from behind and passed the car. The son turned to his mother and said "That's a very cool car". to which the mother replied, "Yes, and if you study hard and be successful, you can have one too when you grow up". That made my day....
