Nice to drive something that makes people envious and jealous, does not bother me a bit, as a matter of fact I love it.

That would have been a great opportunity to get out and teach those kids about God, life, responsibility, hard work, and good choices.

In "TODAYS" society... some people blame everyone else for their problems instead of looking in the mirror. In the OP's case it is a perfect example of parenting skills 101 not taught. And, like most before me have said....I could care less what other people think about what kind of cars/trucks I buy.
Having said that....almost every time I fill up someone gives me a compliment on my Vert or someone will engage me in a conversation with the typical questions ie: How fast....How Much...How do I like it. I love talking about America's Sports Car and do my best to answer their questions. Lets face it...we are all Ambassadors of the car we drive...

Best answer so far. With parenting examples like that, those kids will end up with the same attitude when they grow up.

Even when the subject legitimately comes up in conversation, I hesitate to mention I have a Corvette or am in the local Corvette club because I am afraid they will think I am just bragging... The truth is that I have always owned either a Camaro or a Corvette because that is what I enjoy driving the most. Never owned a truck or SUV and probably never will.

If it were me sitting in my car and I heard that BS, my reply would have been:

"Sounds like SOMEONE really wants a Corvette instead of a boring Honda Accord"

...and it would have been plenty loud enough for them to hear me loud and clear.

When I am asked about my car, I usually respond with I drive "a little Chevy hatchback", which isn't exactly false. My friends who know I have a Corvette usually get a chuckle out of it.

When I taught technology, I always explained to my students that when they see someone in a really nice car and say "wow, that dude is lucky," I told them there was very little luck involved. The dude had the nice car because he worked for it. Very tired of people who never botherd to learn a trade, join the military or get an advanced education. That is (or was) their only hope and they blew it badly and then they talk about luck? Like others, I also joined the "IDGAS" (I Dont Give A ****) club because upon further thought, I don't.

Have you seen the Bugatti Chiron? It's about three million dollars,......It kinda shows what a bargain the Corvette really is.

Funny, I had a guy once walk over and say "nice car, but it's a phallic symbol for you macho guys trying to show your dick is bigger than everyone else's". I laughed and responded that i expected it was bigger than his. He was a short fat guy with a huge gut, probably couldn't even find his.

I decided to stop at Costco to grab a couple items, while the wife waited in the car. We parked far out in the lot, as usual. A new Accord happened to have done the same. When I returned, my wife proceeds to tell me about the family of four who belonged to the Accord. As they walk past our car, the young daughter asked what kind of car it was. The father replied that it is a Corvette, a car that rich people who have more money than sense, drive. About that time, the mother noticed that my wife was in the car, so she tells her husband to shut up, that someone is in the car. My wife says that they then circle around our car as they leave, staring at her.

It made my wife uncomfortable as she's a very humble person. We're not rich, and we've worked hard for everything that we have. I swear - stupid people and their stupid comments.
The father is bitter because he is a slave to the two children and the woman he agreed to have them with ( to keep her with him ). Sorry for sounding pessimistic but human nature is what it is and at 67 yrs of age I see it much more clearly now.

The father cannot have what he wants because of the cost of the children in plain english. I read posts here that amaze me.....but I was a young man once too.....posts from young men happy with their lives and wives/girlfriends. For most of us that happiness evaporates as soon as we give in to the demands to "start a family".

If a man makes enough money, and few really do, to afford the children, all their junk, and the wife and all her junk and STILL have money left over for his junk he is fortunate indeed. A young man's vette that his lady loves and supports him having suddenly becomes an unnecessary expense that inhibits the college fund when the crib is full.

If you like your toys and want to keep them get a vasectomy pronto. My best advice to younger men.

The average cost of a new car is $34K and rising. A used C7 Corvette can be found for high $30 to mid $40's depending on year, mileage, etc.

I think the husband was an idiot, but aside from that I think this demonstrates that the Corvette is an exotic looking sports car that people thinks costs a lot more than it does. Especially the C7's.

Some of these loaded SUV's and trucks cost as much or more than a new Corvette...
