C7 rearview mirror radar detector mounts - non Blendmount
I'd like to mount my Solo 3 radar detector up under my C7 Coupe rearview mirror (LT-2 auto dimming). I know the Blendmounts are good, but are they really necessary? I saw one on Amazon for $35.
Anybody have experience with cheaper options for this application?
Solo 3 is battery powered, sourcing power is not an issue.

Way overpriced in my view, but maybe the $35 mounts suck.

The Corvettes have never been easy to make a rear view mirror mount for due to how short/tight the mirror mounting stem is, look at how much of a pain the C6 mount was. C7 is a little easier
As was said before the BlendMounts are worth every penny and you can find a discount code for ordering from their website.

I have this one For my girlfriends uniden radar detector since blendmount doesn't make one for the uniden nor for her 2015 VW GTI. It works just fine. More vibration than the blendmount.

My father always had a saying or two for instances with this line of thinking ..
"Don't be penny wise and pound foolish".
"Buy once, cry once".
You'll buy the cheep one, hate it, then buy the blendmount unit anyway. (You'll just have then paid more than just doing it right the first time)
I have the blendmount and it is rock solid.

I have a Blendmount and although I agree it is far over-priced for what it is, I have no complaints with the functionality of it, nor could I find a good, cheaper, alternative when I looked.

Nope, not going to put my OK on the blendmount. Expensive. The one I had on the C6 vibrated and caused the mirror image to be blurry from the vibration. I found a cheaper and vibration free alternative. I did this: https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...post1586888501

I ordered the $35 mount from Amazon - the Solo 3 is much lighter than some of the wired detectors many here deploy, so it may fare better with the cheaper mount as far as vibration goes. If I don't like it I'll move it over to my bench warmer car (Lexus CT200h) and get the pricier mount. But $120+ seems way pricey, like it would be pricey @ $79.
We'll see I guess.

less than half the price
Check out Radarmount.com. Same as Blendmount one third the price. Great product. Same concept maybe better only 35 bucks.

V1 install using Blendmount on a C7
Finally got my trusty Valentine V1 installed in the C7 GS using the Blendmount kit and MirrorTap power cords.
For all those who said their install was a piece of cake, super easy, a 15 minute job, or other such superlatives, my hat's off to you. For me it was a royal PITA.
Of course, part of the difficulty lies in trying to squeeze my plus-size frame into contorted positions in the C7 that would shame the Kama Sutra, but I finally got it done and I'm happy with the results.
I like the way the V1 is solid and tucked up right under the mirror thus offering minimal blockage to the driver's view not to mention somewhat stealthy.
It's a good thing that the MirrorTap kit come with multiple taps as I broke 3 of them during the install.
