It works well but you have to start it manually every time you start the car. Easy to forget.

It takes an sd card, not a USB stick. Yes, you just have to remember to start it each time you start the car. Some of the very affordable dash cams on the market might be a better solution though.

Exactly, I have a full HD 1080P $50 dashcam that is better than this crappy PDR. They seriously need to fix how it works with a software update.

It isn't a dash cam and is used as what it is intended to be by plenty of people. A couple of key points about the PDR is most users don't want files over written and don't want the system to start up without hitting a start button. What they do want is better exposure control so the video doesn't get to dark in areas covered by shadows, more car status info recorded in the Cosworth Tool Box data stream and a little better resolution of the video. Things that would be nice are IAT, ambient temp, boost psi. They may be in the 2018 package.

I will offer up, without facts , that MOST Vette owners don't track their car. All I am asking for is two software settings to allow the PDR to start up when the car is started and to overwrite any existing files. If it's a software setting, then you get the best of both worlds.

I could be wrong here as it's hard to tell from the googling I did as every friken link talks about how it's illegal to use valet mode to record people...blah.blah.blah.., but if you put the car in valet mode and leave it in valet mode it will start the PDR when the car starts every time. I'm not sure if it will loop the video though. I will have to test this out when it stops raining here. I have yet to use the PDR or valet yet. I'm also note sure what else happens in valet other than it locks the screen and glove box, but if that all that happens besides turning on the PDR you're half way to what you want.

From the manual:
Press the Settings button from the
PDR menu to display settings.
Unfortunately in Valet Mode the manual also says this:
Valet Mode (If Equipped)
This will lock the infotainment
system and steering wheel controls.
It may also limit access to vehicle
storage locations (if equipped).
Press the Settings button from the
PDR menu to display settings.

Agree. I don't track my car and I doubt many do. Mine is a vert so why the dealer ordered the PDR is beyond me. I bought it off the showroom floor and every option was exactly what I wanted except this. I have never used it. No prob other than an extra cost. I will probably buy the cheap dashcam.
As for your car, maybe the PDR came with NAV, which was ordered on purpose. Can you get NAV without the PDR?
