The 2018 isn't the mid-engine?
maybe I'm getting old but I thought the 2018 Corvette was a mid engine vehicle. Will there also be a front engine Vette available?
Thanks..
Thanks..

The C7 will continue through the 2020 MY. The C8 will be a front engine Corvette. The ME is a GM super car separate from the C7 and C8 and is expected to be produced starting as a 2019 model. (I've been saying this for the last year and a half or more.)

I don't think the General has made any specific announcements about the ME release. In spite of the numerous spy photos we've all probably seen, I don't think they've even officially acknowledged that they're working on an ME design.
The 2018 order guide has been released. 2018 model year Vettes will have front engine / rear wheel drive.

Well, the 2018 for sure has the same models as the 2017 (for the most part) as the order guides are out. These are still C7's. This doesn't mean that some other stuff could be announced. But it really seems that what we'll hear about is a ZR1 model and then a mid engine might come with the C8's. Who knows, lots of speculation. Only thing we know now is what is in the 2018 order guides that have been published in this forum.

I have been a car guy reading about rumors of a mid engine Corvette "next year or maybe the year after" for the last 40 years. I will believe it when I see it.

Safety Car
GM couldn't keep the doors open at Bowling Green if they made a ME C-8 and not a front engine car. Most of the corvette faithful would not purchase a ME C-8 because of the lack of space and the price, if it was 100k. A ME C-8 only, would be the end of corvette!!! Just my 2 cents.

GM does market analysis to determine what they think demand will be for an ME super car. I bet they build somewhere between 1000 and 2000 max during the first year of production.

What are the chances the ME supercar is a Cadillac?

I can see it being more around $150k.
That's where the smart money is...

Just because a car is midengine does not mean it will be uber expensive. At some point a mid engine sportscar with a force induction 6 or 4 cylinder will make sense. Depending on the current and future administration CAFE laws will make V8's a thing of the past.
