Default When did the C7 get no-lift shift?

I have a '15 z51.. tried a couple no lift shifts at wot, and it didn't seem to work?! I got a painful gear grind once. Maybe it came in later years?

I have this in my ss, so I think Im doing it correctly!

You are using the clutch- right???

You can leave the accelerator on the floor, but you've got to use the clutch.

I was thinking the same thing... wouldn't be the first time we've read about the no-lift-shift attempter confused about the clutch requirement

OMG yes, I'm using the clutch. lol!

Maybe I'm trying to shift too fast. I suppose I'll slow it down and it should hang 6500 or something. Thanks.

What exactly is the no lift shift doing. I thought I understood it as holding the rpm while you engage the clutch and shift. But there has to be something I am missing.

Okay thanks, really not much different than old school board shifting where you just held your foot to the floor and grabbed the next gear without lifting.

Exactly and only makes sense when going for max straight-line times.

Works pretty slick once you get the hang of it. You wanna complete the shift as fast as you can though. I think it goes out of the no lift mode if you try to grandma shift it.

1-2, don't try to shift at 6600. Start the shift once the tach gets past 6k. You'll probably be close to cut off by the time you're shifting. Revs are climbing fast and I feel there's a bit of lag in the tach.

2-3, you can get closer to the cut off as things aren't happening as fast. You still wanna start shifting before 6500 though. Get too close to the fuel cut off and you probably won't make it into the next gear. I've never grinded it when I miss, just seems to not wanna go in.

3-4, you can get pretty close to the cut off on the tach. It's keeping up by now...

Yeah, but if/when you miss a shift while holding it to the floor, old school would allow it to redline and potentially damage the engine...so this is much safer...

So you guys are saying that the engine will maintain the RPM you are at when you depress the clutch peddle while at WOT ? Pretty cool .. did not know that.

FYI, I dont know about the c7 programming but on the ss you need to be at 90-100% of throttle for it to work, so you sort of have to commit!

I learn something new on the forum every day. Does this work in all driving modes or are there certain ones you need?

I believe it works independent of modes.

4-5, pretty much the same as above except it takes me a little longer to do the shift - not nearly as fast as the shifts into the lower gears because you have to make sure you're not going into 3rd or 7th.

5-6, no problem, but acceleration really drops off.

4th gear tops out at about 152mph, and 5th at around 186. At Daytona you're right at redline at 185 across the S/F line. I haven't needed to go into 6th at the track yet - but maybe this Dec when we can run with the windows up. That little reduction in drag should give us a couple more mph.

185 at Daytona? I'm jealous. Man that would be a rush. Maybe I'd even whimp out, not sure...

You'd LOVE it!!!

When you get out of the twisty turns in the infield and out onto the banking it's wide and smooth and just like cruising down the interstate - just a little faster!

Come on down some time. There are only a few HPDE type track events here every year - the next one won't be until Oct 6-8:

http://performancedrivinggroup.com/events

In the video below I'm not no lift shifting, I'm just out cruising - my fastest lap was 2:00.18. Next Oct I'll have to push just a little bit more aggressively, and maybe do NLS to pick up 1/2 a second to get an under 2 minute lap!!
