I have owned both the GT seats (2016 Z51) and the Competition seats now in my 2017 Grand Sport. In my opinion the competition seats are nicer but not $2500 nicer. I have taken 11 hour road trips with the GT seats without issue but have yet to with the comp seats but soon will and am not worried about discomfort in the least. Comp seats are comfortable.

Were I ordering another Vette today, I would not check the box for competition seats. If these were say a $500 upgrade without forcing another $500 for suede steering wheel and shifter boot, I'd sing a different tune.

Great seats, but expensive.

Dozens of threads on the subject, several recently.

To sum it up, unless you're completely out of shape or a professional weightlifter, the comp seats are comfortable

I'm 6'3" 208 lbs slender build and I love the seats
The base seats are a tad bit more comfortable...a TAD, no where close enough to sway my decision.

I've done a couple 2 hours trips, no different than any other seats I've been in

I have the competition seats and I like them. I think they look better, although the ft seats are also very nice. It really comes down to personal preference.

I disagree with this assessment. I am not out of shape and am not a bodybuilder. I don't care for the comp seats. Seating comfort is a very personal thing.

I was a program manager for an OEM seating manufacturer for several years. During the development process, we did seat comfort assessments using people of all sizes and age. Perceptions of seating comfort are not consistent from people of the same size and age.

I would suggest the OP try sitting in the two seat styles and adjust to your liking. Evaluate for YOUR comfort. Then decide if the extra cost of the comp seats is worth it to you.

I think the guys that approved the design of the back of seat base should be flogged. I'm 6'1" 210lb. The points on the back of the base suck. Heck, the NASCAR type racing bucket in my race car wasn't that tight in that location. I'm sorry, but a 5'6" 145# guy should not be giving approval for seats that real people sit in...

It is about the only thing that I'll say absolutely sucks about the car. But (no pun intended) you feel it every time you drive the car...

Oh, and the shifter too...lol (but that's a pretty cheap fix. MGW)

My wife has the comp seats in her '16 and I have the standard seats in the '14 and '17. We find both comfortable.

I really wanted comp seats but very few dealers had them in inventory so I ended up with the GT seats. The comp seats where awesome on the track and I found them very comfy in general being 6'2", 205#. I have my first track day next month so I'm looking forward to see how the GT seats compare to the comps on the track. Good news is that trunk monkey offers a comp seat conversion.

I've taken a couple of 2000+ mile trips in my comp seats and find them very comfortable. You should sit in both if you can though.

One thing that is so nice about the seat conversion, is that it opens your options up when purchasing a new Corvette.

We can help you change the entire color of your seats, or just match what you already have. http://www.trunkmonkeyparts.com/corv...it?parent=1163

Here's the best news, the comp seats are 20% denser in the foam.
When you do the conversion, you don't mess with the seat cushion at all.
This means that you have the softer cushion pad from the GT seat, paired with the slightly more rigid back pad and shape to hold you in place when you hit those corners pushing 1G.
Plus, the looks of the competition seats are very attractive, IMHO.

The side bolsters in the comp seats really hold you tight which I like, however I like $2,000 more so I am very happy with my regular seats.

our 2015 is our eighth Corvette. All were bought with the standard seats; I never race and was going for maximum comfort.

But with our 2015 and standard seats (GT) .... never was comfortable enough, especially on rare occasions where I was the passenger. Dang that passenger seat back side bolsters are close to each other, trying to roll my sholders forward... and my wife never could get the angle just right on that side.

We then sat in a 2016 with the Competition seats and were surprised how much more comfortable they felt to us. Soooooo much of an improvement, that we converted the standard seats in our 2015 to the Competition. Very pleased with the result.

But, the conversion Kit to do this after the fact is a lot of work

You should sit in both. I was lucky a local dealer had showroom cars with both and we kept going back and forth to make sure we were happy with our choice. They are expensive but I like my decision

I think you'll find them equally (un)comfortable, but the comp seats look cooler.

I've had both. 5k miles in a 16 z51 with comp seats and now my 17 GS with GT seats. I'm 6' 180lbs, muscular build. The comp seats were great and made you feel like you were in a race car and they look much cooler.

However, they are not 2K cooler, especially considering if you have the 3LT package (which both of my vettes did) the comp seats do not have the napa leather, they are the Mulan leather. So not only do you pay too much for the 3LT to begin with, you pay another 2k for comp seats and lose one of the upgrades of the 3LT package.

So I'm more than happy with my GT seats. For me they are slightly more comfortable because I have a broad upper body.

I like how they fit. I like how they look. Very comfortable for me but as pointed out, you need to actually sit in them to know if they are for you.
