Any hope for a street/track approved oil?

If I get hooked on track days, and get serious about them, I'll likely have to consider making changes for track days. For now I hope to avoid that.

I agree with wanting the best compromise. Swapping all the fluids back and forth seems like such a waste, not only of the fluid but of my time. I've put off my track prep till next week to see if a new oil fill recommendation does get released.
Regarding brake pads you might want to check out Hawk since I believe they have a street/track pad. I haven't researched it too much since I'm going to wear out the stock ones on the track (hopefully quickly since they are dust generating ****'s) then replace them with something more track specific.

I know the Spring Mountain folks use Hawk pads, but everything I read about them indicates that they are just as dirty, if not worse than the stock pads. I'm really hoping to find something a bit cleaner, and reports on the PowerStop Z26 seem to be good.
BTW, I've searched every way possible to try to find more info on a potentially upcoming oil option, but nothing so far. I guess we wait until the bash is in full swing and hope for the best.

In my opinion, there is no such thing as a street/track pad. The Hawk HPS is great for the street but if you're going to track you car have a second set of real track pads, like the HP+. I've had both HPS and HP+ (on my C6). The HPS was no better than the stock pads. The HP+ is outstanding at the track.

Used them at the autocross, great pad.

Honestly, you should be bleeding your brakes before each track day so just swap out your pads. True race pads on the track are so nice. So much more feel. They will grind through your rotors on the street though.

After some more research this morning, I'm starting to conclude that my best compromise street/track pads are already installed. I think I'll just stick with the OEM pads for now. Fortunately I bought my car to drive, and not put in car shows, so dust on the wheels isn't the worst thing that can happen.
Cheers,
Rusty (still hoping for oil announcement)

You might as well just change it because the DOT4 should be changed too.
DOT 4 has a lower lifespan than DOT 3 because it absorbs moisture quicker. Under DD conditions DOT 4 should be flushed and filled once a year.

I was at the Corvette Corral at the Rolex 24 in Daytona and a Mobil representative gave a tech talk and stated a new factory/track fill was coming and going to be announced soon, by May I believe he said. I would imagine that will be in the 2018s. He also said this would be a GM proprietary blend initially, and also they weren't positive on GM making it backward acceptable to prior years/gens.
I guess we will find out soon??

Yes, disappointing for sure. I thought for sure it would have been announced at the Bash. I guess we now have to wait until the 2018s start getting delivered maybe?

I watched every Bash video and there was no mention of it. Suppliers like Michelin and Mobil were there too. All 2018 info has been released so the answer appears to be no. As a result I just had the 15w50 put in.

At the end of the day, your bearing clearances require X viscosity. It's really hard to provide that at startup, 190 degree operating temp and 280 degree operating temp. A big problem stems from cooling deficiencies. If it could keep its oil cooler, this wouldn't be as big of an issue.
