Default Upgrading to C7 on Saturday

On Saturday, I'm picking up a Sterling Blue Metallic Convertible from a dealer in Connecticut and driving back to Maryland. It's 343 miles and I know an oil change m/b done at 500 miles. I'm also leaving for the NCM Bash on 4/26. I need some advise, should I get the oil changed on Monday 4/24 or Tues 4/25 b4 I leave for BG.

Is the oil change also no charge at the Dealership

Thank you

Hi neighbor, you're just around the corner from me. Congrats! Pretty car.

Yes, get the oil changed before the drive to BG, but try to get 500 miles on it. The reason is to ensure the silicon in various new engine seals is washed out thoroughly. That uncured silicon can kill the anti-foaming additives in oil, which can cause it to overflow into the intake on a dry sump car.

Yes, it is free. BTW, when you do get it changed, it's good idea to tell the dealer to only put 9qts. of Mobil 1 in, and give you the extra qt. to adjust the level later. Adding 10 qts often puts it over the top fill mark, because it's impossible to get all of the old oil out. Also follow the manual instructions EXACTLY for checking the level. It must be done between 5 and 10 minutes after the oil is fully at operating temp. Any other reading on a dry sump car will not be accurate.

Lastly, be sure to vary your rpms up and down on the drive from CT to MD. That's the best thing you can do for a new engine and transmission.

COngrats on the new Vette. Beautiful. I like that Sterling Blue color and now it's been discontinued. It's sure to be desirable in the future.
