I've owned 5 out of the 7 generations and they all get the hood dropped.

Hard to believe this could be a topic of such debate. Such is life on this forum where everything is over thought. Drop it from 12" or so. Works every time.

I just classify the whole darn car as plastic.

The carbon hood on the Grand Sport is feather light so at approximately 18", I let it go and step away! Closes perfect every time..

Carbon fiber hoods and top panels have been standard on all C7s since the beginning of production in 2013.

Wasn't saying the carbon fiber hood was exclusive to the C7GS. At least that wasn't my intent. Just pointing out it is very lightweight compared to my previous corvette models and the 18" drop allows enough distance for momentum to finish the job versus a heavier hood that could be dropped from less distance.

Carbon fiber is light weight and strong.

I know, I just thought it would be interesting to even base owners who had no idea they had CF hoods and tops.

Can't fool me! It's all plastic! Everything is plastic up to and including the windows!
I wonder if there is a recycle triangle hiding underneath the car somewhere?

I tow it to a dealer and have a technician close it.

I really did like the Duke's of Hazard reply. That sure would ensure that the hood latched!

Are there people who are worried about dropping the hood? I've never known anyone who touched the exterior finish to close the hood of any car. The hood closes with the same amount of force as the doors, and not much more force than the rear hatch. If the hood is a problem, what are people doing to get the doors closed?

I hold my hood about twelve inches above the latch and drop it.

Hmm. I missed the Dukes of Hazard response. Saw Starsky and Hutch. I may have missed it because I was overstimulated by the thread.
