Audio pilot is either on or off, there's no setting the levels.

Does anyone else notice that Audio Pilot seems to end up lowering your volume? What I mean by this is, for example, I turn Audio Pilot on at a stop where I set the volume manually, it raises the volume as I drive, but at next stoplight the volume is lower than where I started off at, and usually too low to enjoy or even hear what is playing.

Its a shame too, because its a feature I would really like to use in the Vette where the variations in engine and road noise, etc. is very pronounced.

Yes.

The system sucks. Auto volume control worked much better. If you can hear it when the car is stopped, it's too loud when moving, and vice versa.

I just leave it turned off. It's less annoying to just adjust the volume as needed.

I ended up turning mine off also. The original GM speed sensitive volume system was more noticeable in operation but the overall results were better than I have found with the Bose audio pilot system in my Z06. Audio pilot seems to work a little better in my 2014 Cadillac ATS but that is a much quieter environment and there isn't as much noise level variance across equipment groups on that platform so it has an easier environment there.

I have my audio pilot set to ON and hardly notice the changes anymore. So that prompts me to ask myself if I'm just "sound blind" to what's going on or not. Do I have my volume level higher than many and not getting much change in volume as I stop and go? Or are some others setting their volume low and notice greater changes in volume as they slow to a stop? Is there a good deal of variance in it's performance from one car to another, from one platform to another (base vs Z06, NPP vs non NPP). One thing I have noticed is when the volume does drop at a stop the fidelity goes to hell. It sounds muffled, some frequencies seem to disappear. Fortunately for me I don't do a lot of stop and go driving.

Correct. The problem is two fold: 1) the stereo can't get loud enough to compensate due to the weak amplifier and 2) the system automatically rolls off certain sounds (bass / low frequencies) as the volume increases in an effort to keep the speakers from distorting. I find it sounds better when turned off.
