About to order a Mods4Cars SmarTop

I never park my car with the top down so I really don't see $439 of value in it for me. I'd rather get a super car cover or Lloyds floor mats for half the price.

I too would be interested in this little convenience gadget. While searching for a Canadian distributor I had a quick look at the install and programming guides on line.
For those who have it, does it come programmed and ready to go or do you need a laptop with internet access to plug in once installed and then program??
thanks,
Len

I see you need to update occasionally . . . anyone know if it's Mac friendly?
Edit: looks like it is!

A lot of my trips are really quick- 5 minutes to the grocery store, Target, RedBox, etc.
Really encourages putting the top down even for short trips.
Same for raising the top. Before SmartTop I'd often park with the top down to run in and grab a few things- but would think in the back of my mind "I hope no one is messing with my car". This way you can tap once as you are getting out of the car- and top is up before you even walk into the store.
Super handy walking up to your car on a hot day- top is down before you even get there.
I had tried holding down using the factory remote option (before SmartTop) and it was horrible- often would fail mid process- so totally worthless.
Have had a few times when rain started suddenly while driving with the top down. Could just tap once- and keep both hands on the steering wheel and focus on driving.
The convenience is well worth the $$$

Just joined the club today. Programmed first and then installed. Wow, is this a nice mod!

Finally installed yesterday. In and done very quickly. Only one casualty. One of the fastener rivets broker when trying to reinsert. I guess it actually got damaged pulling it out. I then finished it off trying to put it back in.
Oh well.

It's not even about raising or lowering when not in the car. Two of the biggest conveniences are being able to operate the top regardless of the ignition being on or off, and not having to hold the button down on the dash for the entire open or close sequence.
It also improves the operation of putting the top down with the FOB as once again you do not have to hold the button down for the entire opening motion (which before I installed SmartTop half the time would get stuck halfway through and I would have to hit the button again). Now just hold down the button for 5 seconds until you see the windows move, then release the button and watch it finish.

Are any of these things necessary? No, but they sure are convenient. And if we only bought things that were "necessary," we'd be driving Toyota Corollas or Hyundais.

Had mine in for a month now, and have to admit this is about the best mod yet. Hard to say what I like best--the one touch up/down using the dash button or the ability to exit the car first and then put the top up as I walk away from the car.
Another plus: With the standard fob buttons I very often would have the top-down motion interrupted as I walked to the car. So far Smarttop has been 100% accurate both up and down. Programming and updating has been via my Mac.

I do a lot of shows here in Florida. Being able to push a button and get the top up AND the windows closed from my RKE is worth every penny of the cost. We get pop up rain pretty damn fast down here and seconds count when you're trying to keep the inside presentable.

Mine has been in use the longest since it was developed on my car. I use it all the time and can't imagine being without it. Pushing and holding the dash button or key fob might not seem to be much of an inconvenience until you get used to having this - then you can't imagine ever going back. Totally worth it in my view.

I just bought my car 3 weeks ago and it had this mod. I like having it. BUT, once I came out from work and the top was already down when I hadn't intended for it to be down and once I came out and the windows were down when they should have been up and locked. On my C6, sometimes I would come out and the trunk was popped open and I know it was because my fob squished up against my keys and pushed the button. How that can happen 3 to 5 times in succession I don't know, but it has me concerned about this happening when a rainstorm comes. Again, it's only been 3 weeks, but I am now watching it closely.
