Haven't used mine because of the winter. I think the few small issues have been corrected. Great product.

Put mine on over the winter. Using it constantly over the last month since it's been out of hibernation. Not one issue. Love it!

I agree with above, would never want to go back to a convertible without it.

Wish it wasn't so expensive, but still worth it.

Yep, this gadget always gets great reviews on all models for which it's available. I've just never felt the need to raise and lower the top when I'm not in the car, and now that it can be done in motion up to 30 mph, I'd use it even less.

Put me in the minority on this modification. I was trying to think of the times I would really use the extra features to justify the cost and came up short.
Maybe I am missing the exact additional benefits of this mod. My understanding is you can raise the top with the remote and also the windows.
I know from the factory you can only lower the top with the remote not raise it.
I almost always raise the top when I exit the car, and on rare occasions when I do not I just get in the car and hold the button, so other than a bit of convenience I guess what am I missing.
I am not trashing this mod just trying to understand the need. Thanks.

One day, you will be out of the car, with the top down and and it will start to rain. You will watch the car turn into a hot tub as you run toward it to put up the top and the windows. I can do it from my lawn chair or from shelter as far away as the remote will transmit!

I can see that happening to some folks Elmer, but I always put the top up as I am parking the car. I don't do car shows or "cars and coffee." I just use my car as a car.

For some, no doubt, it's a great gadget. Mine lives in a garage at home and at work, and I'd never leave it in a public parking lot with the top down. It's no big deal to me to start the car and drive off while putting the top down.

If for some reason I happen to find the need to admire my car from a distance in a lawn chair w/ the top down, I'd notice the rain clouds en-route long before the rain.

I've also spent a lot of time in the Jeep Wrangler/soft top, plastic window world, where it's a 20-30 minute operation to get the top up and down and windows zipped back in. That puts things in perspective.

For me this would be great. I am always dropping the top as I walk to the car, and the idea of putting it up after getting out of the car sounds fun too!

Everything as mentioned before is about convenience, like many things, are you willing to pay for convenience. But here's a different example.

I drive home and park in the garage. I park on the right side and the wifey's car is on the left. When her car is there, there is absolutely no way I can get out of the vette with the top up (I'm 6'4"/300 lbs.). So, I need to put the top down to get out. Ok, now how do I put it back up?

Bam! Just hit the button on the SmarTop.

You get 2 items as part of the kit. A plug that goes into the DTC to control the windows and a module that you program and install under the waterfall. You can leave a USB cord hang out of the waterfall area to do any updates that might be needed. I haven't used the darn cord since I did the install so...

For me, the price just seems too high. If it were $250 I would definitely buy one.

It's not even about raising or lowering when not in the car. Two of the biggest conveniences are being able to operate the top regardless of the ignition being on or off, and not having to hold the button down on the dash for the entire open or close sequence.

My current sequence:
1. Pull into my garage with the top down.
2. Shut off the car
3. Press the "top up" button on the dash ONCE
4. Open the door, get out of the car, and close the door while watching the top finish going up and my windows closing.

It also improves the operation of putting the top down with the FOB as once again you do not have to hold the button down for the entire opening motion (which before I installed SmartTop half the time would get stuck halfway through and I would have to hit the button again). Now just hold down the button for 5 seconds until you see the windows move, then release the button and watch it finish.
