Borla x-pipe
In a prior thread I had expressed my disappointment regarding how quiet the NPP exhaust is on my 2017 Grand Sport even after removing fuse #42 to permanently open the baffles. After reviewing recommendations regarding alternative exhaust systems (Borla, Corsa etc.) they are a bit cost prohibitive for me at this time. I have seen on some other threads that using the Borla x-pipe has added some sound to the existing NPP exhaust. Has anyone on this forum done that and has it made a difference?

I added the borla pipe w/o secondary cats. Wasn't that impressed initially but as I've spent time with the x pipe, wouldn't go without it now. Nice burble and subtle decel pops that I love. Seems like I've gotten a ton of positive comments about the sound of the car since adding it- especially on a cold start.

Love the Borla X-Pipe. Nice increase in sound volume. Revving faster is placebo imo, deleting a couple pup cats isn't going to change the rotating mass.
Here's a video, factory NPP exhaust besides the X-Pipe.

Do a search. There have been a ton of posts on this topic.
The general consensus is that the switch to an x-pipe w/o cats is well worth it. I personally went with a Borla and I love the added sound effects.

Only had mine on 2 weeks and haven't driven much, but, sounds good.
Install not a piece of cake as some have said.
Rear clamps had about a 2" weld clamp to pipe that has to be ground off. If doing on stands not an easy job grinding off. Also, front studs would not come out & had to get new ones. I gave up trying on jack stands and took to my local shop for install on their lift.

Just put mine on yesterday. the install was done on a two-post lift, which made it easier. One side of the X-pipe at the rear, a pipe expander needed to be used to open it up a little. The rest of the install was pretty normal, prying here and there to get the optimum fit.
In Stealth Mode, the increased sound is minimal. In Track Mode the overall sound is increased somewhat, but not dramatically. In-gear decel does have more pops and snarls, which I personally love.

If you say so.

I don't want to debate my install. However, the rear clamps were welded ( 2" weld)to the stock H-Pipe. Can't remove the H unless weld ground off.
Studs remained on the stock H, could not remove them to reuse on Borla, so got new ones.
Trust this clears up my " install error."

Yes stock clamps are welded on all factory pipes. You loosen the clamp bolts and slip it off, you don't have to grind the clamp tack welds to get them off. You don't reuse any hardware except for the gaskets from the factory pipe, the studs remain in the factory pipe and you use the bolts that Borla sent.
Here's the factory pipe off of the car with the stock clamps very much still welded in place
Here's my X pipe installed with the hardware provided by Borla
