I am planning to order either the Swisstrax or Racedeck tiles and have seen many nice comments and pictures of both. But I would like to see how they hold up long term. If anyone has had their floor down for a few years, I would appreciate your feedback. Thanks in advance for your help.
I have had Race Deck installed in my New Jersey garage for 10 years now. I clean them once or twice a year and they still look great. I have white, red and black tiles. Some of the white tiles take some extra scrubbing but they still clean up nicely.
And this isn't a fancy pants garage, every day my wife's car and my daily driver are in and out of the garage. I even had a four post lift installed and drilled right through the Race Deck with zero issues.
Going on year #2 with my Racedeck free flow and couldn't be happier. Still looks brand new, even with bringing my daily drive in/out fall of salt every day during our lovely Cleveland winter. Cleanup is super easy (leaf blower, pressure washer or shop vac - pick your poison). My car jack rolls on it just fine. Jacking and using Jack stands is no problem whatsoever. Would recommend this to anyone and would do it again in a heartbeat.

looks great! im looking to do this to my garage. What style tiles do you have? (diamond, vented) How much does it cost ?
I had race deck tiles in my house, and I didn't care for them. Now, to be fair about it, I don't know how old they were, but at least 6 years old, probably closer to 10. The previous owner likely never cleaned them, and when I tried, they looked better but still had embedded dirt and stains. Also, dirt and water had gotten between the tiles and fallen to the concrete where that never got cleaned. After all those years, and very likely some rodents and maybe household pets in the garage, and the floor smelled.
Also, the tiles make noise when you walked on them and rocked slightly over the uneven sections of the garage.
I'm sure it looked fabulous when they first put it down, and I know it's not cheap to do. However, the ones in my garage looked bad and did I mention than they smelled a bit? So I pulled them all up and got rid of them, scrubbed the floor and lived with that for a few months until the wife let me have the floor professionally painted with epoxy.
The epoxy looks fabulous, is easier to clean and keep clean, cost less than tiles and doesn't make any noise when you walk or drive over them.

I put in the GarageTrac from BigFloors.com about 7 years ago. Best choice I made since I have tried two part paint, mats, etc. Has held up very well. Went with the black and alloy colors. Easy to sweep out and found best way to clean is Pine Sol and a sponge mop. Change water often. Have a photo from 2009 and looks as good today.
I never thought of these, but these look awesome! What's the best place to buy these tiles from? How much do they run roughly for a 2 car garage?
Buy direct. They have a "configurator" so you can design the floor any way you want. It's about $3.00 per tile, less if you buy more. I have a three car garage at 700 ft sq which cost me a bit over $2K. You can buy edging to trim it out. It can get dirty if you're in that kind of environment (Seattle rain and fir needles.) A leaf blower works well, but so does a broom. a light mopping once a year cleans the tiles right up.
Yeller Z06 hit the nail on the head as to why I don't care for the race deck. Noisy. It would drive me batty. I have a diy epoxy that is looking pretty crappy after 13 years and I think I will look into the new metallic epoxy.
Our SWISSTRAX Ribtrax has been down for 15 months. Looks like the day I put it down.
VERY happy with this product. I got samples of both RaceDeck and SwissTrax. I liked the Swisstrax better as it was thicker, and with the Ribtrax (open style) flow through you couldn't see through to the bare concrete floor as well as you can with RaceDeck. Also, the tiles are slightly larger........ 15 X 15 instead of 12 X 12.
What happens in the winter with melting snow and road salt to these?
with the open style, the rain, or snow melt just goes through to the concrete floor below, and there are drain notches in the underside of the tiles to allow the water to drain out the garage door.
About once or twice a year, I take my shop vac and go over the floor. It sucks up all the sand, grit, dirt, etc that has fallen through the RibTrax down to the concrete.
For extreme salt debris, etc you can pull up any amount of tiles with very little effort and wash down the concrete, or power wash it if you want. I have NOT had to do this, but did see a guy in Mass do it after a really bad winter.
I have had the Swiss Trax, had it for for years. I love it's easy to walk on
and easy to clean. The Swiss Trax is thicker and lets more air flow under it. Request a sample from each company that you are looking at.
Try to destroy each tile with weight, spills etc. and find the best one.
My Race Deck floor has been down 12 years. The only thing I would do different now is I would NOT use white tiles.....I would use the silver/gray tiles. The tires will discolor the white tiles over time. Race Deck did replace some of them for me and they provided a special cleaner to use. The cleaner made the tiles really slick so I only used it twice. I now mop a couple times a year with an all purpose cleaner or SimpleGreen...that does the trick. My car is not driven in the winter so I don't have to contend with the salt and crap from winter driving. I would do it over again the same way....but change colors.
