Default Why no leather horn pad on upper trim levels?

Just wondering? Even if GM uses the highest quality leather out there, it cannot cost more than $10! It's a small touch that adds quite a bit to the richness and ambience of the interior.

Perhaps someone at the bash can pose that question.

You mean you think they should wrap your drivers air bag (horn pad) in leather? Let's just let that sink in a bit.

Why not?

It probably would cost way more than ten bucks, but there is nothing inherently wrong with the concept.

It does look nicer wrapped in leather. I'm sure it's just a cost thing. I saw a post last night from a new vendor here, it looks like they're going to offer a nice stitched leather cover for $100 if you're motivated to add that.

I assume the current cover is designed to rip apart on air bag deployment. Not so sure the leather would perform consistently and by design for an air bag. The liability involved might be more than the looks of the leather. I doubt the additional cost is the reason in the grand scheme of things. Just sayin.

LOL.....I guess you have not seen all the other high-end cars that do this? Better yet look at Caravaggio and what they offer as an aftermarket option.

Tell that to the passengers of 3LT Corvettes. The entire dash is leather.

Plastic or leather makes no difference. They are both thinned/weakened along the same point in order to separate. When the light is just right on a leather dash, you can see the "seam."

Many manufacturers make them in leather. It adds a nice touch and demonstration of attention to details. That is something that many high line cars do...

Really haven't given it any thought, but it's obviously a cost thing...

This vendor is the way to go. $100 and you install it over your own airbag. Or for $200 they will exchange your core with it mounted. I paid much more than double that from another vendor here.

I believe they score the leather so it splits properly should the air bag deploy.

I have no idea what it takes to properly install the cover on your existing airbag though so I would elect the vendor to mount it.

That doesn't bother me on my 3LT although it would be a nice touch.

What does bother me is the plastic console-I would have gotten the carbon fiber dash option if it was extended to the console LIKE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN.
