Default 2017 Corvette Grand Sport Will Pace the 101st Indianapolis 500

Corvette Grand Sport to Pace 101st Indianapolis 500

Track-honed model advances legacy and is 14th Corvette to pace the iconic race

GM Media

INDIANAPOLIS — The Corvette Grand Sport is the official pace car for the 2017 Indianapolis 500 and will lead drivers to the green flag on May 28 for the 101st running of the legendary race.

It marks the 14th time a Corvette has served as the official pace car, starting in 1978, and the 28th time a Chevrolet has led the field, dating back to 1948. No other vehicle has served as the pace car more than the Corvette.

Should we assume this variant of the GS will be available to order, on a limited basis of course?

The press release should answer the question (finally for some) on whether the Grand Sport is a "Stingray" or not...

"The Corvette Grand Sport is the official pace car for the 2017 Indianapolis 500..."

Default GS pace car for Indy 500

It was just announced that a GS will be the pace car for the 2017 Indy 500. There are photos on several sites and more to come. White coupe with red/blue graphics. Actually more tasteful than some other years.

Yup, And to save money, maybe they can resurrect one of the old stickers, change the date and save design costs.
Maybe no one will notice.

I would consider getting one! Would match my other one!! Think mine has the vette beat in "over the top" decals. I don't care... This one was actually on the track that day. It has the "500 Festival" decals on the sail panels which designates it as either a press car or a car that was in the parade. I narrowed the info down by the vin number. It wasn't the actual car that led the race though...I wish!
