Leather seat ruined by seat protector towel
I have a 2015 Stingray Z51 with adrenaline red seats. I bought a well known seat protection towel cover in black. After a few months of use I found that my seats were stained especially the corner beads. Tried to clean them with mild water and soap with no success. Tried with leather cleaner , no success. Cannot believe that seat protector cover would ruin seats, wrote to factory no reply. Has anybody run in this problem?
Company should be put out of business. Has anybody try to clean stains from Corvette seats? Why can' they be not cleaned?
Very upset by this problem problem. To protect seat I end up making it worst and ruining it.

What you have is a classic case of dye transfer. The dye from the seat towel transferred to the seat. Since it is a dye, that makes it very difficult (maybe impossible) to remove.

Black towel on a red seat = black jeans on a red seat.

Sorry you learned a hard lesson.
On the rare occasions when I put a towel on mt seat because my pants may be a little dirty I always use a white bath towel, never seat covers.

Had a similar issue with a passenger wearing a black sweater on the Titanium seats of my C6. Transferred black stain to the upper right shoulder area of the passenger seat. Tried Zaino leather cleaner, didin't take it out, just kind of dulled it. Called our BMW dealer service and asked who they used for leather repair. He said "The Leather Guy" of course. Called "The Guy", he came to the house, tried to clean the area, couldn't, ended up using a solvent to remove the clear vinyl top coat, which of course is tinted for the Titanium. He had to custom mix a new tinted top coat, sprayed it on and you couldn't tell anything was ever wrong. Cost me $80 for 90 minutes of his time. That was 9 years ago though. Good luck, I think that is the route you'll have to take, or something similar.

That sucks. When I had light gray suede seats in my last car, my wife wasn't allowed to wear any black jeans etc. You should try taking the car to a well known detail / upholstery shop. They may be able to do it.

Unfortunately, a lot of aftermarket products people buy to protect the original surface just ends up ruining the surface more than if you just let it wear naturally.
Car covers can wear through paint on corners, floor mats to protect floor mats can trap dirt under them, sill and door panel protectors can never be removed without marring the underlying surface, seat covers damage original seats, and on and on......
Best to just let things wear and replace when necessary...

Interesting time to see this. I just today received some seat towels. Black front and white back. I have an adrenaline red leather c7. My intention was to use these to cover the seats when the car is out in the sun along with the sun visor. You are telling me this towel could transfer dye to the red seats it it is used while a passenger sits on it?
Maybe I should run them through the washer a few times, could that possibly mitigate the problem reported here?

Leather seat ruined by seat cover
The towel seat covers are the most popular one sold by Corvette Mods and West coast Corvette. They advertised as protection against stains and nothing is farther from the truth.
If you wash them several times before their use it might help but the Stingray logo might ruin.
They should have a warning sign to avoid this problem and to get sued by customers. A class action suite would be appropriate.
If I was you I would not use this garbage on my Vette or any car.

did it look like this? or worse?
these are from a 2014 vert for sale with only 4200 miles. That discoloration is giving me pause over getting an interior (or top for that matter) in any color other than what Ole Henry approved for the Model T. Old ways are best ways.

Zep cloths are great for cleaning up dye transfer. They are also known as carpet/fabric spotters. Another trick I learned was to use hairspray on a clean white towel. Had worked many times for me. Have even removed ink from leather with hairspray

Class action suit over a towel? Get a grip.

Melting Slicks
I'm still trying to figure what exactly is a "seat protection towel". I have a gray interior and have done nothing tricky other than try not to sit in the car with dirty clothes. Looks fine after a couple years. You don't need to do all this whacky stuff. Just wipe it down with a damp microfiber once in awhile.

I have one, I find it very useful once in a while and try to keep it in the car. It's not on my seat often though.

I think it was Rick Conti who recently advertised here on Corvette Forum a gorgeous red C7 with the light gray 2LT interior, and I considered the same thing while looking at the photos. The interior colors other than black are beautiful, but there is a cost to them in terms of maintenance and care. OP here is helping remind us of that.
