Our New Render Shows Off a Big and Capable Corvette SUV
We had the Typhoon and the Trailblazer SS, so why shouldn't GM give us another super SUV?

The advantage of this concept would be what, exactly? GM already has V8-powered SUV's. Think this would sell just because of the C7 flags on the front?
CORVETTE FAMILY:
Corvette Stingray
Corvette Grand Sport
Corvette Z06
Corvette ZR1
...and now...
Corvette Beluga Whale? I can already see the chrome "whale" emblems on the front fenders instead of Stingrays!

Yet, they did one anyway, and it too is selling briskly. It's appears that the incredible public demand makes it a commercially stupid decision not to do one. Just ask Porsche.

I was reading an article in the WSJ recently which underscored how reliant GM's bottom line remains on pick-up trucks and SUV's despite efforts to better compete with Asian producers on passenger cars.
GM said they had a 34% jump in the first Q net-income based in large part on pick-up trucks sales as well big SUV's. Truck factories are running full-time to meet demand. This at the same time there was soft demand for passenger cars industrywide, which forced GM to cut those production, laying off more than 4K workers.
No mention of Corvette specific. My thoughts are will this trend of sales continue once gas prices rise a dollar or more? Is there a market for a Corvette SUV to compete with the likes of Porsche or against its own Cadillac HP SUV? Is there room for a Corvette SUV in good times as well as bad times? Those are just some of questions that must be on the table at GM.
I say no to the idea but I'm not against GM's bottom line either.

I know that there are other European sport car manufacturers going SUV, but to me it would make more sense to have Cadillac fill the void for a performance SUV.
We just bought an XT 5 and it is OK with the 310HP V6, but they should do an XT5- V twin turbo with suspension handling mods & different front facial etc. -IMO it makes more sense than a Corvette SUV.

SUV or no SUV, really does not matter to me, more interested in where GM is going with the C8.

I'm not opposed to a Corvette SUV, I just think it would be difficult not to have overlap with Cadillac. Porsche didn't have that issue because they didn't already have an SUV and they have a very small product line compared to other manufacturers. I happen to like my Cayenne, it is leaps and bounds better than any other SUV I've had.
A Corvette SUV could turn into another Cadillac Cimarron.

As I said above, many said JLR was going to cannibalize Land Rover sales when they developed a Jaguar SAV. That has proven to be totally false, and in fact, it's increased their market share significantly.
