10,000 miles is not high miles for a 1 year old car. I would shop the net and forum dealers and think you will be able to find your 1LT GS for what you are willing to pay.

Pay the 11 grand and get a grand sport. Sell your ride and call it a day.

Otherwise just enjoy your awesome car that you already own

funny enough, the one they found had black mirrors. My immediate question was "how much to paint them white."

A little different than your situation, but traded my C6 GS for a C7 GS plus some money () last week. I thought about it for a while before pulling the trigger. I'm totally happy with the decision. The C7 Grand Sport is different car!

OP, I'm personally in the same boat (going from a FRS to a C7, not sure if Z51 or GS). How was the transition from your Miata to your C7 Z51?

If you have a GS, good for you... Hope you like it, (that's all that really matters anyway) it's a very nice car...
A GS is literally a Z06 with a different motor, so you're wrong.

Well my Miata is a pure track car that lives in my track garage.
I went from a Z51 C6 to a Z51 C7.

It is kind of weird going from Miata on the track to the C7 on the street after. I almost missed my turn once because I braked too late in casual driving.;

It's also a bit weird going into any other car on the track (I haven't got the C7 on the track yet). The Miata is on R-comps so it stops pretty hard, but it's also so damn slow you don't need to scrub off any speed. Since it's on R-comps, has good suspension and is light, I can carry some decent corner speed, so it's not like I need to get down to a low speed either.
I'm generally braking at the 150 foot mark going from 80mph to 55mph or so In my C6 I was going from 125 to about 50mph. Big difference.

edit: the Miata is a momentum car as well, whereas a lot of cars like vettes are a bit more point and shoot (especially on street tires) so the difference might even be more pronounced. The weirdest is going 600cc bike to 6.2L V8. going from shifting at 16,000rpm on the track to 2000 on the street is a big difference. I hit the rev limiter in my C6 once just casually driving right after I left the track once

I want a 1LT. I can't find one without all kinds of stupid options like chrome wheels and other stuff I don't want.
I don't need or want most options in the 2LT. I like red seats. I don't like the other red accents. Seats are fine, dont want the extra weight of adjustable stuff. Only thing I want is homelink (I bought the visor separately) and the carbon dash (again, did it myself). Def not worth the extra cost.

My last car was a 4LT. I don't think I ever used the adjustable side bolsters or lateral support.

Z06 brakes, tires and rear fender panels, on the GS are the obvious differences/advantages, but the article is also unclear with regard to shocks and sways. In other words, are they just "tweeners" between the Z51 and Z06, that I would guess are closer to the Z51 set-up? Given the GS's extra unsprung weight from brakes/tires/wheels, I suspect they are beefed up a bit.
Do you have the numbers for wheel/tire/TPMS total weights for Z51 vs Grand Sport? I can't find anything that confirms the Grand Sport wheel/tire combo weighs more than the Z51 combo does.

Brakes are something like 20lbs heavier IIRC. Check the z06 brake upgrade thread.

I can't imagine wheels and tiers ARENT heavier. They are 2 inches wider in the rear and an inch wider in the front (both wheels and tires).

The upside is you can upgrade rotors that will save you 16+ lbs in the rear alone. That's crazy weight drop.

Mike Furman found me almost the exact car I want. Wahoo. Might get this done.
M7 Black on black 1LT with nothing but black wheels and red calipers (want both of those options). I wanted white exterior and red interior, but I'm not opposed to black on black either. It's probably my second choice.

I don't, but I don't think either the Z51 or GS wheels are forged monoblocks (cut from a single piece of forged aluminum), which are the lightest and highest cost wheels. I'm pretty sure they are manufactured using the same process.

Thus, larger wheels and tires have to weigh more. I would guess about 3-5 lbs. per corner more.

I would think you could get close to that difference for a new GS, especially with the discounts some of the dealers are offering.

I bought my 2014 Z51 2LT with 2500 miles and now have 5505 miles. The good price 25k below 75k Sticker allowed me to put about $7,085k in personalized mods to my taste. I put 20k down and will have the car paid off in about 24 months and own free and clear a depreciating asset or toy. I bought my 1984, 1995 and 2014 all used with under 5000 miles and let someone else pay for the depreciation. I can't image if i paid $75k and sold for $50k and took a $25k depreciation hit but that's just me. My current Porsche Cayenne and Lexus SC430 Convertible I also bought used with significant discounts as well with low miles. I love a good deal!

I am not one to keep trying to keep up with the lastest and greatest and lose money by doing so. When this car is "paid for" I will continue to invest the same money into my investment account and grow my bank account vs keep putting money into a depreciating asset that whenever there is a new tweak in the design or look that some people might think makes their car inferior.

Each time I get into my car, I have the same excited feeling so if or when I decide I want a Wide-Body, I'll write a check for 4-5k and essentially have the same car as a GS but I won't do it until the car is paid for. Keep in mind, I am speaking of someone that doesn't track a car and don't max out the performance of my Z51, 2.5LT... Most people seem to want to trade to get the wide-body primarily from what I gather and to each his own and do what you want with 'your" money as everyone has a different perspective of what they value.

Whatever you decide is the right decision for you and I am sure everyone enjoys the decision that they make for themselves!

1. Front Splitter $500
2. Side Skirts $700
3. Carbon Fiber Z06 Style Grille $225
4. Z06 Style Red Pinstripes Wheels ($900 trade in wheels) $500
5. Z06 Rear Upper Intake Scoops $200
6. Z06 Front Grille $225
7. Z06 Style Carbon Fiber Rear Spoiler with Wickerbill $900
8. PowerStop Ceramic Brake Pads $125 3LT
9. Interior Dash Pad, Passenger Glove box Pad & handle $500
10. D-Shape Steering Wheel w/Carbon Fiber Cap $400
11. Carbon Fiber Steering Wheel Bezel $225
12. Stingray Illuminated 3rd Brake Light $30
13. Rear Diffuser Fins $500
14. Z51 Side Vent Decals $25
15. Side Vent Spear Decal $25
16. Swapped out Crome Badges to Black $125
17. Black Lug Nuts $30
18. Stingray Hood Stinger $50
19. Competition Seat Conversion $1.8k

Future Potential Mods - TBD

------Front Wheel Fender Spat $300
------Adrenaline Red Steering Wheel Horn Cover $300
------Adrenaline Red Shift Handle leather Boot $100
------Under Hood Eye Candy $1000
------Garage Flooring SwissTrak or Similar Flooring $2500-$3500 3-car garage
------Pro/Supercharger (not likely)$7000

Competition Seat Conversion

I'm tired of jacking with dealers on their used cars. It's not worth the damn headache. I wanted to pay asking price for one and their "Corvette specialist" hasn't called me back twice now.
Another dealership acknowledged that their used 1LT was more money than the identical new 1LT after rebates but wouldn't budge on price because "the used car manager doesn't want to take a loss on it"

I can't seem to get near a GS for less than $18.5+ trade in. Screw that. I'm going to wait until June 1- see if any crazy rebates or deals come out. If not, I'm going to mod the **** out of mine

I can't get 335s in the rear, but I can get 305, which is plenty for 465hp. I can get the same 285s up front without the ugly afterthought unpainted plastic wheel spats. I'll get lighter forged wheels. I'll get DSC's coilovers instead of GM Mag Ride. I'll get the C7 Carbon GTX spoiler which looks way better than GM's spoiler with exposed bolts that looks like something I made in my garage. Plus, I can keep my car, which I like a lot (color, seats, carbon dash, debadged front bumper, etc).

Dealer finally called me back. Exactly as I would order it- 16k miles on it. $14k OTD difference.

1LT, white, red interior, black wheels, red calipers, carbon flash emblems, 7M (basically what my Z51 is).

Or I can order the same car (0 miles) for $18.5K more

or I can mod the Z51 as stated above for about $12k.

Giving up 16.5K warranty miles and a model year for $4.5k doesn't seem to make sense.
Paying $18.5k to upgrade seems stupid
Modding is always stupid
Thoughts?
