New wheels and tires are coming no matter what when I go through these. I already have Z06 calipers. That's kind of happening no matter what.

I don't really like any of my options.

Based on personal experience, I recommend the "do it once, do it right approach". I have wasted a lot of money, time and energy with previous cars only to finally get what I should have gotten initially. That said, as a weekend cruiser and an occasional intermediate track day warrior, my z51 M7 with PTM and MRC is plenty for me. With a higher skill level and more time to enjoy the track (and of course funds), I'm sure I'd ask about a GS or Z06 myself OP.

I keep thinking about. I really want mrc so I can get th dsc controller.

On the other hand, the used car has an msrp about 8k more than mine, had 16k miles vs 10k on mine and it's $14k more? WTF. It should be less than $8k difference. Add $2k for it being a dealer, okay- assuming they had the same mileage. $14k more for a car with +50% more miles that was only 6k more new is nuts

Sounds like you want to build a car similar to X25's - and that car is awesome. Didn't he say that he may have reached the point where he can't fully utilize all the capabilities of the car?

Not quite as track oriented, but yeah- a lot of similar stuff like Z06 brakes, wider tires, good suspension.

I want the best handling daily driver

Doesn't even understand some of us elect not to get the extra cost Strip options on to our Grand Sport!

DETAILS:
From when I brought my September 2013 built Z51 home, felt the tire width was a bit anemic! Same width as my C6 Z51 with more power. It was parked next to my ProStreet Rod with 420 section width rear tires and could hear it "chuckle" when I pulled in.

Also had to add side skirts to the Z51 that came with the Grand Sport (mainly to stop pebbles from marking the rocker panels) and after adding a splitter the cost of a Grand Sport is about the same as a similarly equipped Z51. So, I got the Z06 larger brakes, suspension and the needed wider tires-almost free!

I still have a NA engine, which I prefer, over a heavier supercharger putting extra weight in the wrong place. As a DD still get the Z51 mileage.

There are deals to be had on Grand Sports. I picked up mine from Kerbeck a few weeks ago for 61k OTD.

Found exactly what I wanted, $15k + TTL upgrade.

It comes with chrome wheels, which sucks. I'll sell them and get some forged wheels.

Quick question-
my options are chrome wheels or swap out for black with the red stripe. Is that stripe painted or vinyl I can peel off.

I don't know, but I would get the black ones if they are giving you the option to swap and then figure out how to paint over the stripe. Then you can run those while your shopping for forged.

That's kind of my thought right now.
They are trying to charge me 2 hours of labor to swap them though

"well, you know. they need to put both cars on a lift and take the wheels off. IT's a procedure."
"I can do it in less than half an hour with a floor jack."
"there is such a risk of damaging wheels"
"Just pay attention"

**** like this endlessly pisses me off. 2 ******* hours of labor? They charge me $60 to take the tires off and mount new ones

This is a really big car dealership family and, coincidentally enough, I was at their ranch with them this weekend (I didn't ask for a deal or anything, or even really talk about it). I'm thinking of telling them about this nonsense.

I am surprised they are willing to swap them. If they are changing tires, then it could take more than two hours with these rubber bands.

Yeah, I kind of don't care- it's $300 on a $70k car. But I'm also like wtf?

I'll either sell the wheels/tires and get forgelines or just get the black ones.

Well assuming they are swapping tires and only charging 2 hours then you should take them up on it. Hopefully they know how to stretch the rubber bands. I would rather have the black ones to keep and get second set of rims.

Let's try this again...Is the red on the wheel tape or paint? Maybe it can be rubbed off leaving black underneath?

In another thread I learned it is painted on.

I think they are just swapping wheels. They should have the same tires.

Any idea what a set of take off chrome GS wheels go for these days? Would they go for more or less than the satin black with chrome? I'm probably going to sell them either way and get forgeline wheels.
