I wrenched my C7
I had an accident last week, my c7 lost the grip due to condition of the tires and ended up in the ditch. front and rear right side of tires were completely gone and chassis badly damaged , I was told i have to replace a new one, I wonder how much it'd cost me, is it even worth repairing it? I had this car almost 3 years now I got for 68k with 7k miles on it, i always thought the tires could last abit longer well now I guess lesson learned .me and other passenger had seat belt on all the time, but the airbags it didnt deploy
Is it normal?

Hope you are OK, cars can be replaced, body parts not.

Very sad that this had to be your first post and thread on the forum.

Sorry you had the problem. Agree the car looks bad but the frame is reparable by replacing parts in sections (at a qualified shop) so perhaps a new right frame section, cradle and left front (and perhaps rear) suspension parts front can get it repaired. The insurance company will make that determination.
Looking at your pics it doesn't appear tires were that bad to cause you to go off the road.
Was it cold?
Was it raining?
How fast were you going?

Since you seem to live overseas my guess is parts and labor for a C7 Corvette (which is few and far between I am guessing) will cost much more and they might total it.
I don't mess around with tires on high horsepower/torque cars and from the pictures yours look well worn.
Sorry to hear bout your accident but hoping you get into a new one.
That said somebody will fix this one up. Did airbags deploy? Fiberglass/composite panels are easy to fix/swap and if it is mostly suspension it seems like that could be fixed.

I've never seen a drainage ditch like that before. Wow you drop a tire off and that abrupt transition will just rip it off. I'd sell or part the car out and pick up a replacement.

Something doesn't smell right here; check out the plates, no state, county or year. Check out the tire tread, the curve behind the car and the tire track just off the pavement; clearly driver error....way too fast going into the corner, apexed way too late, car pushed and dripped the front right wheel off the pavement.
Hopefully the driver will get some seat time at a driving school or HPDE before taking on a curvy road.

Yep, great question Dave . . . glad to hear everyone is ok . . So, I was at a car show the other day and a guy had a Z06 and I could see the threads on the front right tire . . . I was looking for him to let him know but, didn't find him before he left . . that was the fear i had for him, it's a Corvette, tires are extremely important . . thus the question Dave asked is very valid.

Factory tires at 17k miles when the accident happened. I exited the corner around 80mph as usual. road condition was fine it was 8am in the morning, it's my Sunday routine drive I've been doing it for quite a bit of time now. I can felt car wibbly wobbly and screeches when I took corners before the accident but I failed to realise the sign : ( a few more corners later. it sent me to the ditch

Based on the way the curve warning arrows in pic #3, looks like the OP should be driving on the left side of the road. So, why is the right side damaged, and why is going in the wrong direction.
Unless he crossed over two lanes of the opposite direction and ended up in the ditch!!!

First it's obvious he isn't in the US. ALL states require state name on plates.
You all have no idea which direction they travel, it could be either way. THere are plenty of US cars with the drivers on the "wrong" side in places like Jamaica.
That car is totaled. Chassis badly damaged? Done. Now could some third world hack, try? Sure. But it's still totaled..

Sorry to see that. That's a nasty ditch two feet off the road, and inches from what looks to be a bicycle lane.

It seems pretty clear what happened here. No reason to type preachy, snide remarks about driving ability. I'm sure OP feels bad enough already, and I suspect, learned a valuable lesson.

Sorry for his trouble ... Just my two cents....looks he carried to much speed into the turn and based on the signs he was driving on the same side of the road as we do (picture #'s 2 & 3 show the curve signs FACING the driver) Could be the tires with 17,000 miles however, I really think too much speed.

I know people may think I am ****, but I check tire pressure and tread weekly. It just takes a second.
