Default Red tags tomorrow?

I heard from a reliable source that the GM "red tags" will be offered on some 2017s starting tomorrow. Didn't those tags give an extra 10k discount last year?

Textbook stupid. Destroy trade-in values and the used market. Encourage buyers to wait them out. And you wonder why Porsche and BMW products lease so well and not even Ally will offer a decent residual on a Corvette ...
Gump was smarter than these nitwits.

How is this a bad thing? It gets rather tiring hearing about 'but my resale value!1one!'

There have some red tag deals on select Corvettes all month. Perhaps they will expand it to more C7's but MacMulkin and Kerbeck, for example, have red tags listed right now.

I'm not sure if GM cares about used car values as much as they care about selling new cars.

Used car prices are based on used car prices not new car prices.

Used car prices are very many affected by rebates, incentives, etc. When GM offers 20-25% off MSRP on a new car nobody in their right mind buys a used car for the same or more money.

The other problem is inventory. These deep incentives exist because GM made too many cars. This also greatly affects resale.

Well according to one dealer my 2017 GS trade in value went down $6k in the last month because the used car market has recently been flooded with similar cars to mine. This occurred the same month when new car prices went up by $2k + $5k due to loss of loyalty rebate and J57 rebate. So my experience is the new and used prices aren't connected, and I haven't found anyone selling a car I want for 20 to 25% off. I am lucky to get 15% off on cars optioned like I want them.

If you have a 2014 C7 your resale value is no longer impacted by new C7 pricing. Totally different market. Different price points.

Soon the 2015s will be the same.

Love red tags! Got 21% off my Z06 last fall! I keep my cars for a long time so resale never an issue. Live the deal hunt!

Bull ****. If GM keeps on lowering the price it will affect all years. For example, why would anyone buy a 2014 if they could buy a 2018 for $5k more? This might be an exaggeration but you get my point. It all flows downhill from the initial price.
If GM would increase the selling price used values would follow with higher values

Precisely. **** poor residual management.

And yes, if u got that right, values would hold unless the vehicle is an outright POS!

I guess just dumb luck...... after talking about buying a corvette for years went on factory tour earlier in May and started looking for real thought i would do a low mileage 16 to save on depreciation.
was in TN at the time and decided to get on internet
my brand new one was cheaper than the 16s at home in IL so on the PlyCar truck it went .... I had never heard of a tag before
10% off plus another 2.9k off for something else

Ive been looking at used 2LTs. What will the red tags look like for a 2017 2lt? My max is probably 50 so I doubt anything is in my range

I normally do not like strips on a car, but I must say your car is the exception. I like it.

Anyone who buys any car with resale value in mind is doing it wrong, if you ask me.

If you give a hoot about resale value, drive a Yaris and spend your money on an S&P 500 index fund and real estate.

If'n one decides to enjoy some time on this planet, buy a Corvette for whatever price you do and enjoy it.

You'll have a long, fruitless life buying new cars with an eye on resale value.

Anyone who chooses to not buy one of these cars because they can get "only" 15% off m.s.r.p. is an idiot. (I'm not referring to you, djnice; I know you already have one.)
