Girls don't wave
#41
I wave at every Corvette I see. I'm a girl, BTW.
I'm not even very subtle about it. If the top is down, I stick my hand straight up, if the top is up, and I see them coming from far enough away, I roll the window down and stick my arm out.
Mostly, they wave back, but sometimes, they don't. I don't lose sleep over it. There are very many silly threads, and I think this might be one of them. Thanks for the entertainment!

The car should have a sun visor sticker right next to the air bag sticker that says common practice of Corvette owners is to wave at each other in passing...

That's a great idea. And ....it should be in the manual. And a message should come up on your info screen....and there should be a sticker on the side of the windshield next to the next oil change sticker...... etc.
And...no..I am not being facetious...
Corvette owners are a family. And family members wave to each other.

50 years ago I waved at other MGB owners and many waved back. For the past 20 years I've waved at other Corvette owners and many wave back. I suspect the ones that don't wave don't know about 'the wave'.

I always wave. Get return waves 90+% of the time. Of course, I'm here in Tennessee where we're friendly
This thread kinda reminds me of the motorcycle waving threads of 20 years ago. I quit riding 3 years ago, but recently most all motorcyclists waved at each other. It was a wonderful thing

I'm a woman and I'm usually always the first one to wave. Most people wave back, but no biggee if they don't. I wave at vettes when I'm in my truck too, but then no one ever waves back...I guess they don't ever consider I own vettes! I also make a point to wave at all girls driving American muscle, kind of like a sisterhood.

It's because half the women driving a Corvette don't even know it's a Corvette. To them it's just a flashy new car and they nothing about the history or it's significance.
For the record, I wave at every Corvette I see just in an effort to keep the gesture alive. I get a wave back about 75% of the time.

That's funny, in 13 years you've received 28 "Thanks" for your insightful posts while I've received 46 in only four months.
For the record I was joking. I very rarely see other vettes while I'm out driving. I do get waves from all types, especially bikers, but I even got a wave from a guy in a Challenger the other day. I always wave back.

Crusty ole guys don't know about our rad-car sisterhood . I can say that I don't know ANY women that have vettes that are garage queens - everyone I know drives the snot out of their cars (as I do).

to the guy in Brevard County Florida who said he doesn't get too many waves, thats probably because there are sealed into the air conditioned cockpit, and don't want to open the windows to let the cool air out!

You sound like my clone! Also have horses, horse trailer and Dually Chevy truck (along with the vettes), and always wave at vettes from the truck (half the time I forget I'm in a truck). I also thumbs-up gals in American Muscle, and mostly get thumbs-up / waves back!

In my experience- for whatever that's worth- those who don't wave are without the heart and soul of what makes a Corvette guy/gal.

Yeah... I'll admit every once in a while one sneaks up on me and I don't see it until too late. It happens...
