Default What brand of protective film did you use and what parts of your C7 did you cover?

I finally decided on a protective film which will be installed next week
when my 2017 Z06 VERT arrives at the dealer hopefully on time. The brand I used was XPEL ULTIMATE. I am wrapping theENTIRE HOOD,HEADLIGHTS, FRONT BUMPER BOTH FRONT FENDERS,MIRRORS, DOOR CUPS and ENTIRE BOTTOM ROCKERS FOM THE DOOR TO THE REAR BRAKE DUCTS including the BRAKE DUCTS. What brand of film did you guys use and what parts of your C7 did you feel NECESSARYto wrap? Thanks Dave

used none and ceramic coated with wolfgang..just don't like the look of seams and once it gets nicked i think it looks worse then a paint chip that can be repaired each to their own don't consider this model of corvette to be collectable due to the amount they produce..just drive the car have fun and save $3-$4K

......isn't there 2 - 3 other treads on this subject?

I used 3M pro. Only did front bumper and mirrors. Also the whole car is getting Feynlab Ceramic coating this Wednesday including the rims and brake callipers.

Did you guys take off and put back on the front Flag emblem or did you have the film worked around it?

I had Suntek applied to both my 2015 Z06 and 2017 Grand Sport. The Z06 held up great with no issues, and it's to early to tell with the Grand Sport. I had the entire front of the car done along with the mirrors. The Z06 is white and you can barely tell it's on there, but the Grand Sport is red, and you can't tell at all it's on there.

I also applied a coating of CQuartz on the entire car, and it works just fine even on the PPF.

Default to do it right

to do it right my understanding in talking to two different shops are it has to come off they don't use the precut kits so the material they use comes in sheets etc...which is another reason i just decided against i really don't want the badges being taken off then new ones put on etc..i understand they are pros it just not worth the hassle of being reapplied incorrectly

Installer did mine in xpel. Pieces were pre cut so it the section for the bumper was fit around the flag. I had the bumper, headlights, mirrors gas cap and inside sills done. I'm very satisfied with the out come and price.

Why do people talk like adding "ceramic coating" is in any way similar or a substite to PPF? Ceramic coating might stop birdshit from staining your paint or make the dirt wash off easier, but it sure as heck isn't going to do anything at all against protecting from stone chips.

^ That was my thought too I really don't want the badges taken off and put back on. I think I would rather see the film around the front crossed flag badge?

This is how my installer described it to me also. Forgot about the gas cap Thanks!

The material now comes on rolls that are wide enough to eliminate seams even on the C7's largest panels.

my only regret? Not doing the brake ducts... I did what I thought were all vulnerable areas to flying debris. And the one thing I didn't do bit me. They are pounded at only 1400miles.

even With the big splash guards low and wide. 3/4 skirts are going on now. Didnt want to do them but have zero choice for my piece of mind.

truth be told.. money no object I would have done every inch.

My installer removed the emblems and reinstalled. Came out fine, they do it regularly and can do it right (if you have a good installer of course). Some choose to leave the word Corvette off the back to clean up the rear end as well and make it a little easier for detailing down the road.

I would try to do full panels wherever you can, just to avoid seams. However, that said, I have seen Corvette's done with just the lower rockers and there is a pretty good body line there that hides the seams really well, so don't stress over it too much.

I have XPel Ultimate as well, very happy with it, wrapped the whole car.

Oh yea, I also had them tint the windows while they had it. If you're considering window tint, it's a good time to do it.

Xpel on the front bumper, hood, front fenders, a-pillars, side mirror, and side skirts. Already saved some major damage on the driver side fender from a monstrous rock.

Default Just today XPEL

The installer just finished installing XPEL to the entire front end of the car and an excellent job. Well Done. Price was well inline, removed all emblems and hood insert, rounded all the edges and "if there is a problem, bring it back and I will make it right". Taking my 2017 ZL1 in on Friday to have the same thing done.

Just picked my new GS up Friday and dropped it off Sat AM for ppf. Got it back Sun AM.

Full front coverage, including full hood, w. mirrors, rockers/side skirts/ a pillars and full roof new Suntek Ultra.

Looks killer, and you can't tell it's there unless you get really close and know where a seam is.
