Amazing what a fire can do to a Corvette in a matter of minutes.

Yeah, we heard; the automatic transmission overheated, causing the suspension to fail, which punctured a fuel line that caused the tire to rub the fender liner, which made the dash fly off, hit the cigarette lighter and start a fire.

Its crazy theory day.

Definitely a scary situation. Glad no one was hurt, but have to wonder what caused the fire.

Is the insurance going to issue a salvage title on it?

It sure would be interesting to know the cause of that fire. Can the OP follow up with any insight if it gets known?

Quite a mess. Interesting the owners comments about what the car did just prior to bursting into flames.

Glad they got out uninjured.

If I hear the cause of the fire I'll add it to the thread. So far I haven't heard anything from the local news.

Will be interesting to discover the cause. Once fire gets going there are only seconds to get out and away. I wouldn't be worried at this time this is an isolated case.

The insurance company would have been notified before the fire department had the fire out. I am not attached to my car only the inconvenience of replacing the damaged unit would actually bother me.
