Some of you guys is why Vette owners have a bad reputation. Be humble. We are blessed to have cars like this. No need to let your head get big because others can't afford a $70k+ machine. I bet the kid was just admiring your car and was just asking for a rev or two.

Agreed, I was one of those kids once who was thrilled to be able to afford a Datsun 510, which was a pretty awesome track car in it's day.

You also have total control over the car itself. I went through the same thing. "We really ought to get an auto. Think of the children!" I thought about the children and bought a stick. I'm so happy I did so! It's been 20 years, and the stick is so awesome! It's like going home again to your first love. It took about 2 blocks to get back into it. And it's an EASY stick, too. It doesn't grab quickly. It's not too stiff. The gates are almost automatic (well, maybe not 7). 4th gear can do nearly anything (sufficient torque all along the speed band), and it's just such a joy to drive.
There will be no unauthorized usage. The other day, it looked like my C7 was parked about 2' back in the garage from where I left it. I thought, naaaa, they wouldn't..

I find it funny that we're judging people by the make of car that they drive. There are both good people and ******** from every city, from every race and walk of life, driving every name/model car out there. Just because you encountered one bad apple shouldn't condemn the whole damn bunch. I'm personally not a huge fan of quote / un-quote "ricers", but that has nothing to do with the people driving them - the style of car is just not my cup of tea. But I respect the fact that just maybe it's all the young kid driving it can afford, and it fuels their passion for cars - the same passion that you and I share. And one day, that same kid will eventually work his way up to a Mustang, a Vette or Ferrari. And he'll appreciate where he came from - the fact that it all started with a "rice burner". We all start somewhere.

Car people are some of the nicest, most generous people I have ever met. If you acknowledge them as part of the overall hobby, then you will be received well. When someone pulls along side of me, regardless of what they are driving, the majority know they can't outrun my 2016 Z06, but I will kick it down and make some sound for them. That is what most of them really want. They are CAR GUYS and they want a bit of a show. I am happy to oblige, they may even be Corvette Guys who can't afford one yet.

I understand that sure some people would never stoop to owning a Chevy when they can afford a Ferrari or whatever. The most interesting thing I noticed at the Cars on Fifth show was how many Ferrari owners I talked to had started out with a Corvette. I was really surprised at that and the second thing was how many of them own more than one Ferrari! Yep, that's true.

Yea really...
My 26 yr old son just bought this..
For 10k LESS, he could have had a real nice low mileage C6, or a new Camaro, but noooooooo he listens to all his stupid friends and had to buy the rice.... ugh....
Seems the Vette, Challenger, Mustang and Camaro are all for "older married guys" he says......

When a teenager, recall a buddy who had an obviously fast car. When someone would come up to the car at a light, he would rev the engine, make it appear he was ready for a stoplight drag. When the light went green he'd make a turn either left or right depending on the lane we were in!

Yeah, but that Z (an ACTUAL Z, not a z06 where somebody was too lazy to say "oh six") looks freakin awesome.

Wouldn't work... He's too smart..
After all my talk about how inconvenient the car is, how he's going to need all season tires, the rough ride, the dinosaur look, (not changed for like 14 yrs), the slow sales of it etc, he fires back at me, "dad, what were you driving when you were my age"?
The answer...
Brand new 1984 300ZX Turbo, 5 speed....
Yep he got me....
Now I have to go and show him how to drive a stick in 24 hrs before he drives it back to Baltimore...

Let me mod my C7Z with as much effort as you modded your Honda, then see how we each do in a straight line .

When I encounter these guys I always tell them "Nice Car" regardless of what it is. They love it because it is what they can afford and they have probably put everything they have into it. When you see the smile on their face after you have told them "Nice Car" it is very rewarding. They feel really good about their car when the Guy in the $100k Corvette acknowledges them. Car Guys are Car Guys.

How could you get enough traction to do that with FWD?
