Front license plate laws
#161
Actually, the front readers work better than from behind. The instant feedback to the patrol car can alert the trooper to an issue with an approaching vehicle. Giving the leo the opportunity to do a rapid reverse course change before the bolo vehicle can fade from view in heavy traffic.
Yikes, that could ruin someone's day!

I have the motorized Show-N-Go, on a non-lowered 2015. I modified it to automatically retract and re-show ... depending if the engine is running or not.

That's pretty cool. I've heard they're not known for longevity, but good luck with yours.
The other problem is that a lot of cars are ticketed in many jurisdictions for not having a front plate when parked.

Just to add a little to this LONG thread. There is another problem. I have a long daily commute (130 miles round trip, mostly on Texas country roads). On occasion, to pass the time, I have mentally kept track of cars with and without front plates.
The ratio varies, of course, but commonly hovers around 10-15% without front plates. And most of those are high end cars - Vettes, Porsches, BMW's, Mercedes, etc. But not all - there are plenty of pick ups with no front plates as well.
And there is the problem. Either this is an enforced law or it isn't. A 10% plus unenforced rate is probably cause for a legal challenge - if anyone cares to spend the time and attorney money to do so.
BTW - I ran without front plates on my Corvettes for 15 years in Texas. I never got a ticket but was pulled over twice and given warnings. That plus the relatively acceptable appearance of the OEM bracket that came with my 2014 was enough to tip me to installing it.
It really does not look that bad and I found it much reduced my concerns when following or being near LEO's.

I can count on 2 fingers the number of times I've seen a car without a front plate over any given month. And I see hundreds of cars a day.

The DPS will bust you in a heartbeat on the Bush and the extension running down to I-20. As cleo299 suspects, it is somewhat selective it seems. There is no telling what the trigger point is for them. I've noticed that a two man unit is more likely to do a traffic stop. Thankfully, county could care less.

I'll be going with the OEM provided CORVETTE curved black plate.
If Foosh's Stow N Go frnt plate set-up allowed more air flow than the black plastic aero plate, I'd go with that one. However, I'd never remove it for shows or track/road racing events. I could see using it when driving out of State on road trips though.

If I were you I would get a plate on it right away and not wait - in Massachusetts its considered a moving violation and you will get a surcharge for 7 years - you mention New England so not sure on your states laws if its Mass best you dont wait - I got said 7 year surcharge and watch you insurance premium go up - no fun
What the hell.We have to purchase Handguns from a List of Manufactures that payed FEE'S to sell in this State.
YEPEE another FEE

You guys need to bounce those jerk-offs out of office and get a new crew...
Did you try to get it dropped?
In Marion and Deschutes counties all that's necessary is a visit to the courthouse and a photo on your phone of a plate on the car and a clerk will dismiss the fine and charge.

It clearly allows more airflow than anything mounted on the grille, and is on or off in 2 seconds depending upon how quickly you are capable of bending down. The one I posted a picture of is also called "Sto-N-Sho."

Sadly Joe, there are some states that will cite you for not having it installed because they know TX is a front plate state. I seem to recall that from my C6 days being mentioned in that forum.

It does depend upon the state. If you're required to have a front plate in your home state, an out-of-state LEO can still ticket you, but it's less common. Most know what states require them, and which do not.

Nope. I found that out on one of my trips to CA a few years ago.
