Default BMS drop in air filter for LT1

Passing along.
Terry and the folks at Burger MotorSports have done a lot of work on a high quality drop in air filter for the stock air box.It was originally posting in the Z06 section but it works just as well in the LT1.

I was one of the testers.Have a look.

Did you have to retune? I'd rather not. GS

Default Bud, here's your answer

"Due to the higher flow nature of this replacement filter tuning changes may be required for some applications." A direct quote from the Burgertuning web site.

No,I did not tune.
I've ran the car with the new filter for 4 days and about 200 miles.City,interstate,V4 mode and many times at WOT.

NO codes!

My car is a '17 bone stock LT1.

Glad it works for you. Me, I'm done modding my Z. It is back to bone stock and it's going to stay that way. Way to many Chevy dealers now have gotten **** about any powertrain mods. Up to and including the air filter.

It's a crying shame they made this simple mod something that you have to actually put some time aside to do, it used to be so easy back in the good old days.
I know it's not that difficult, but went from a 30 second mod to a 30 minute mod these days.

Thanks for posting!

FWIW, installed an aFe lower restriction complete duct, larger oiled cotton filter in my C7, Z51. As their engineers said, no tune is required just run the car for ~100 miles and the exiting MAP has more than enough range to tune itself. Never an issue in ~3 years. In fact a tune would create possible warranty issues!

In fact, I removed the system from my 2014 before it was sold and will install on my new GS. Checked with the company engineers and it will work fine, just have plug one hose barb in the air duct that was for the PVC air inlet, which is not used in the GS. Note the line that takes "burped" air from the dry sump tank to the air duct is still needed.

Of note, someone drag racing "removed" the air cleaner and had an issue. Could well have been the turbulence created past the MAF sensor that is right after the filter. That is something the filter does as well as filtering air, reduces air flow turbulence in that area.
