So I get hit ............. Not !
On the way home when this lady pulls along side me honking her horn and pointing at my car. Soooo, I pull into a Kroger parking lot thinking something is wrong with the Z. She pulls in after me. Gets out of her car and before I can get out of mine, runs up to my window and tells me I hit her car. I'm like "Excuse me, I don't think so !" So, she calls 911. The officer shows up. She wants me ticketed and an accident report made out. Me, I keep my mouth shut. He looks at her 12 yr old beater, looks at the Z and asks her "Where's the damage to his car ?" She can't show him any. She continues to insist I hit her car as she shows him this busted up piece of plastic rocker moulding that has all kinds of dirt and rusty, blistered paint showing behind it. At this point the officer asks if we have exchanged policy information to which we both answer yes. At that point he tells her to go on her way. As soon as she leaves he hands me his contact card. and tells me that if there are any issues to have my agent contact him. That he witnessed the fact that my vehicle had no damage and that the damage to her vehicle was obviously quite old. We then spend several minutes discussing the Z06. Turns out he has a C5. Gotta love it !

It is required by law here in TX. Even the officer asked if we had exchanged information.

Why do I have a feeling this will not go well? Just curious, what insurance company do you have? Please let us know how they treat this case. I'm hoping she does not get a cent and you don't have to waste your own time dealing with it.

In this case I'm not gonna give out my info even if it is law. There was no collision. Wait till the cop shows up.

I read your entire post. The words "law" and TX never appeared. Perhaps you should read it again and point out where you think you conveyed this thought but as far as I can see you didn't mention it at all! (You gotta wonder when people say they said something and they obviously didn't, how much truth is left in their story...)
Even so, the law is probably about exchanging insurance information if you had and accident but you didn't have an accident so there would be no purpose of exchanging that information. I wouldn't have.

It sounds like you admitted to hitting her car by giving you insurance information.
All she will need to do to is file the claim. Insurance will take care of the rest.
My wife was driving a 2 year old car sitting crossway in a divided highway cross over. when a woman with 3 other "witnesses" pulled forward and hit my wife's car in the back door.
The woman immediately calls the police. When the police pulls up, the woman jumps out of her car and walks back to the cop. They talk for a few minutes and the cop then walks up to my wife. The woman told the cop my wife pulled forward and hit her car. She was driving a 17 year old Lexus that looked like she drove through a barbed wire fence over and over.
The cop told my wife that because the woman in the Lexus was the one to call the police to report the accident he had to make a report. The report stated that the woman and her witnesses made a statement that my wife was the one that hit her. and my wife was at fault. The woman also mentioned her husband was a police officer.
Long story short. She got a $2000 settlement for a freshly painted front clip on a 17 year old car. probably more than the car was worth. Criminals.......

AND.... that is why I have the Blackvue camera running at all times when I drive my car. That was pure and simple insurance fraud. No way in hell I would let them tag my "record" with an accident when I didn't do squat.

While it depends on the insurance company whether or not they'll pay a nuisance claim or not, it never hurts to mention to the adjuster that you suspect fraud - if that's the case - and they can make a note on the claim. Hopefully that too will be passed along to the clearinghouses that most insurance companies use, and her name, VIN, phone etc. will all be flagged (if it's not already).

California is no longer sending police out to give police reports on accidents. They claim the officer cannot offer any opinions on any police reports since the officer was not a witness to the accident.
